I don't mind it. It's kind of a nice change from large-breasted women.

I guess it reminds me of when you see television in another country (like Japan for example), and having a moron look and behave like an idiot.
You say how stupid he and the people watching must be.......................
and then you realize it is EXACTLY what we have here in America.
I think I now know how women feel when they have to look at all the gratuitious T/A that seems necessary to sell products here in the USA.

I have an overwhelming urge to go apologize to all the women I know, for the crap they have to put up with.

What the hell did I just say??!

Well, somewhat. But at least Mr. Package (as he shall now be called) seems to be a mountain biker. Ms. Boobies very rarely even pretends to ride a bike.

But I don't think any of it is particularly offensive. If we all acknowledge the tools of advertising, we can recognize it for what it is. And perhaps even laugh about it.

Still, thanks for your nod towards the peace-of-mind of the female gender.

I for one in 100% secure in my manhood and don't mind the picutures of the pro's on the side. The trek dude is that Chris Entouasdflkjvdskjl guy that totally owns the solo 24 hour scene. You can be sure that if I could endure as much physical and mental pain as that guy, I'd pose with my legs wide open in spandex for all to see what huge balls I had.

Now I'm off to pull some spandex of my fat hairy legs so I can feel like a man. Diirrrka Diirrr..

    off the hook..............YESSSSSSS

I actually have been trained in the paradigm of,
"it's a womans world, and I am lucky to get to participate"

Not really pining for Ms. Boobies.
Fast women in spandex seem better to me.

Thanks for the thoughtful discourse, and the chuckle.

This really seems to be a problem for you.

It sounds to me like your not feeling really good about the feelings you get deep inside of you, when you look at this picture(over and over again) You might want to really look into that.I don't see it bothering any one else. I just see an everyday xc geek with there spandex shorts. And worse than anything else, those 6 foot 135 pound frames in a tight rodie shirt with the pockets in the back. I love the geeks who dog out the whole gay spandex look,of the xc guys,(cause these are manly men into freeriding,ya ok) who wear the freeride baggie shorts, but still were the gay as$ roadie shirts with pockets in the back. And the sticks that hang out of the sleeves.By the way the whole MR. SALTY thing is not helping your cause.

The thing is one of those "dudes" is Adam Craig and he's wayyyyyyy faster riding up or down anything on a MTB than you or anybody you know so I don't think he really cares what you think.

That is Chris Eatough, Endurance Racing Legend. If he showed up at your group ride, better make fun of him before he starts riding because that is the last you are going to see of him.

I'm with Scorpionwoman, bring on the guys!

While I'm not totally offended by the sleek toneless models, I wonder why they don't get the likes of the Luna Chicks or other professionals, like the side bar ad. I don't think men would be put off by Shonny Vanlandingham and I know that most women respect her. Could be a win win. But maybe not, since she probably wouldn't dress up in a thong...

She wouldn't need to dress up in a thong to get my attention.

As for the guys, I think the male reaction to the pix says more about those viewing and commenting than it does about those in the pictures.

Agreed... and personally, I prefer to watch at Shonny than Adam or Chris... Not that the image of both of them on my screen would bother me, I really don't care. But for sure, Shonny, or any of the Luna Chix, or Mary McConnelough (god, I love that girl's smile!) or any other racer women would have actually ATTRACTED my attention.

I really never looked onto that ad... just glaced at Adam (whom I can recognize as I used to be a Giant junkie) and saw XTR and never felt like looking at it again.

    Fred,

Yes, I am a badass biker. Sometimes I can outrun my neighbor lady when she ditches her walker.
Otherwise I usually just throw my pump at her to win.

No doubt. Most guys who I know who aren't insecure about their sexuality don't get worked up about stuff like this. The ones who do tend to be (a) young and insecure or (b) bottling up unresolved issues. Personally, I didn't even notice those ads until this thread showed up.

this isn't about being insecure, or having unresolved issues.

this is just another example of how the gay adjenda is being pushed on American culture by the liberal media and the powers that be in hollywood. just look at how many gay themed movies came out this year, and how much they were pushing them on TV. i swear there was a brokeback commercial every two friggin minutes. and of course television itself, how many shows feature gays now? it's ridiculous, and quite sad.

just because i think being homosexual is un-natural and disgusting, that somehow makes me insecure? sorry but there aint much logic in that explanation.

how about my explanation: a man and a woman get together to procreate and continue life. what can a man and a man do together exactly, besides the very disgusting?

i firmly believe the term "homophobe" was invented by gays, because there is no such thing, that's just their way of justifying their horrific "lifestyle"

If you were more secure, it wouldn't provoke such a reaction in you. You would be indifferent to it.

There are a lot of things that a man and woman can do together that don't lead to procreation. In fact, if you listen to Love Line or read Savage Love you will find that many of the exact same things gay men do are also quite popular among straight couples. Perhaps you find those things disgusting too -- but maybe it isn't a good idea to let it bother you so much.

And since it prevents procreation, I suppose you condemn contraception -- even for married couples?

Once again, how about focusing on your own sexuality, and not judging that of others? It's none of your business anyway.

Let me guess: I bet you profess to be a Christian too. Somehow my Bible is missing the gospel where Jesus went around judging everyone else's sexuality. He was pretty harsh on hypocrisy though.

Suggestion: Reread your gospels and pay close attention Jesus' attitude of love, forgiveness and compassion. Notice what he condemns and what he does not. Then spend some time sorting through your thoughts (including why gays and singlespeeders make you so angry), figure out where they're coming from and ask God for forgiveness for the things he would not approve of -- in light of what Jesus really had to say! Often this process leads to asking for forgiveness for things one never suspected. It can also lead to discovery that one is carrying shame for things that don't require forgiveness at all.

im not sure what all your other points are getting at really, contraception, religion, this, that and the other thing, because i'm not talking about any of that, but you made my point for me with those few words above, which breaks down to the following:

man + man = no procreation ever possible = unnatural

there is nothing Jesus or anyone else can say to dispute that or change my mind about, and you speak of forgiveness like someone committed a sin or made a mistake. i think you need to realize the difference between someone making a lifelong choice of lifestyle and someone saying a few hail mary's because they cursed at their neighbor. one is simply someone losing their cool and showing to much emotion, the other deals with a direct insult to all that is natural and pure in this world, which sadly is becoming a rather short list it seems

So what if procreation isn't possible? So what if only 90-95% of us procreate? Can you look around me and say there's a shortage of people procreating?

What if a woman is with a sterile man? What if a man is with a sterile woman? I've known a few people in both categories, and they still have wonderful marriages. Are those relationships abominations? What about middle aged couples (again, I've known a few) who have never had children and are now too old to do so? Are they unnatural and disgusting?

My wife and I, despite having been together well over a decade, didn't decide to have children until we were nearly 40 -- after nearly deciding NOT to have children. Does that make us almost unnatural and disgusting?

OK, so you're not swayed by Jesus. Bad guess on my part (although you can't blame me for playing the odds! ), so nevermind my last paragraph above. For once I'm glad to hear a homophobe NOT perverting Christianity to justify their bigotry.

Again, what two adults do in a consensual relationship -- or, for that matter, with whom they choose to have a consensual relationship -- is simply none of YOUR business. None of this hair-splitting over natural vs. unnatural is going to change that.

    I was enjoying this thread....

As a friend of Chris Eatough and Adam and Walker (the other two in that XTR ad) and having been ivolved on the outskirts with the photo shoot for those ads, I was really enjoying this thread until some silly wanker decided to press his personal agenda on homosexuality....too bad. And I thought this was a mountain biking forum. Get a life salimonius.
Anyone else with hilarious and or witty commentary on those photos - thanks, I laughed a lot reading down the thread!

I concur...I don't have adblock and don't even notice the ads (except for the occasional Mrs. Boobies).

Gee none of my friends think I'm a jerk, we think gay bashing is good fun. I thought everyone else did too...?
