da'HOOVs OT thread, RB, cars, hairstyles & Sonny/Cher

Cruised over to RB to check it out. Looks like a few folks from here are there too. Interested to see a "stan4bikes" recently joined. Same old antics it looks like.

FWIW , "stan4bikes" on RB is not me, not affiliated with me and does not represent me. I am not the one pulling his strings.

For those who don't know, I was stan4bikes here before I changed to da'HOOV.

Who cares? Did you copyright or trademark that name? Why do you have to stir the pot here.

I posted because I got two pm's from members here asking if it was me. That's why I cruised over and checked it out. Nothing more, nothing less. If that constitutes "pot stirring" so be it.

Well since the post is totally OT and adds nothing, maybe a cool car photo will lighten the mood. Not a bike but a few cars have been posted here previously with no repercussions.

My '67 427/480hp Camaro, best 1/4 mile was 11.2 with 8" Racemasters. It was my everyday car despite the fact it could pull the front wheels 6" off the ground in street trim. 90-10 shocks, line lock, close ratio 4 spd, 4.11 Posi, deep sump oil pan, balanced and blueprinted, Long gone but never forgotten.

And I want to stress what great a role retrobike plays in the international vintage mountain biking community. It's plain awesum to have good supportive communities to meet multiple interests and passions. Finally, I just took a look and congratulations to pete_mcc for that pretty Klein and winner of September's Bike of the Month!

VRC is not affiliated with retrobike so that is why I personally believe that it's OT to be complaining about users from that forum. Should anything occur on that forum, I can only request that it remains there. I'm sure they don't want to deal with our dramatic entanglements as well.

Feel free to use the personal message (PM!) system to talk to and respond to specific curious people. It works well and keeps the drama out of this forum.

    Thx!

Hey....speaking of Americans. That thread over at Retrobike is a good example of why the rest of the world hates Americans.

I've been to over forty countries (for up to 14 months a country and lived in two others) and have very little problems with people because of my nationality.

For the most part the people I have problems with are from Canada, Britain, and Germany (in that order). While problems are rare even with those nationalities, some people think one must fight off the haters all day long. "America hate", occasionally. "American hate", exceeding rare.

If a local person has something to say about the U.S., I usually let them. If a western European traveller is grumping about it, I politely let them know I'm not that interested.

Actually, that was directed to Stan and his 6 inch wheelies on street tires.

Can't much drive that car where there are cyclists to watch out for, although the ones I have seen at the track are often pretty wobbly.

It's just an old race car. The car was prepped back in 78 by a factory racer's shop and they knew all the right places to point the torch. No interior, 'glas parts, full race. It's probably as light as Stan's Camaro since he said it had a 427 in it. Runs mid 11's with a stock 440 in it.

I sold this back in the summer. High winding 340 with not a lot of low end torque. It embarrassed a lot of faster cars on the street because while they were trying to get things hooked up and moving, I was already at 6 grand, second gear, and gone. I built it for my wife, it was basically a daily driver that never was driven. Of course, it couldn't do a 6-inch wheelie, so there's that.

Spent a lot of time in a 70 340 Dart, they certainly embarrassed a lot of other medal back in the day.

Two more and I'll stop. Thanx for your patience, I've been scanning old photos, reliving past memories..

Datsun 510 built by BRE back in the day. Stock rating was 95HP, we estimated this to be pushing 180 with an Experimental high lift cam, 11-1 pistons and full Mullholland suspension kit.

Datsun PU with a Chevy LT1 350, 375 HP, narrowed 12 bolt rear, 3 speed Automatic with a manual shift kit. It fooled a lot of people.

What a pointless thread. girlonbike, this should be locked, preferably deleted. If people want to discuss subjects unrelated to VRC the should find an appropriate forum. Or create a "Totally off-topic, schoolyard BS" sticky for the usual suspects to play in.

Stan, nobody cares, do you know how many people are using "mechagouki" as a forum username? Nobody cares. That's how many.

Pingwuin, it doesn't matter what country you come from, their are *******s in every country, naming perceived culprits just gives weight to those *******s' "American idiots" argument.

I think they qualify per your description

The thread is 'jacked, deal with it.
    Indeed.
Chasing bears through the woods drunk with a dull hatchet is strongly not advised

That must be just for hauling nice parts... most parts I find are too oily/rusty to put in something that shiny.

Mech'...amazing that an OT thread that no one cares about has over 800 hits and 45+ posts. (Including 5 or 6 from you )...all in good fun my friend. I'm sure the mgmt. likes the high hit count.

I like your idea of an OT picture, comment, rant thread ..maybe even a sticky?
