So, you just moved to town, haven't hit every trail in Sedona and your already telling them how to build, maintain, adjust or modify there trail system?

What's next........your gonna move to Flag, ride 25% of the trails and tell them how to do it as well?

I don't think "grandstanding" will over well in this area.

Wow dude.... you need to sit back and watch the show a bit before flapping so much. Our beloved Traildoc did a darn good job of yanking our chains a few years ago, but much to his dismay we all pretty much have him figured out now. He should be pleased that he got the AZ newbie all ruffled.... even I find it rather amusing!

I have not seen any of Doc's trail work, but ..... I ride for the challenge.

I have witnessed many miles of trails become maintained and become to saintized in the process

This is all rather odd Mooky. Did you stop taking your meds? Last time you were on the boards you mentioned you hadn't really ridden the more difficult trails in Sedona. You then arranged to meet Traildoc for a ride and blew him off.
Another Very Fun Sedona MBH Sunday Group Ride

When you finally answered your cell phone you apparently felt that washing your car was more important than meeting for a ride (that you prearranged) and actually getting shown the goods instead of finding said trails for yourself.

I suspect you can't even ride half the stuff that doc "improves". STFU.

Rumor has it "Team Tuggie" will be in Sebona next week....Watch out they like the nasty stuff, a lot of group riding involved. They do not take sanitation lightly......

It sure is nice out today all across AZ go ride your bike!

You gotta find the trails yourself. I did yesterday, ones that I'd never done before, ones that I didn't even know existed. Stop being such a pansy and go out there and ride. With such a light efficient bike (unlike my 46lb xc bike that I was riding yesterday), you should have no problem staying out there and putting in some major miles (looking for trails).

How can you miss it? It's marked by an official FS sign labled Pigtail. You mentioned jumps as one of the features you were looking for in the trail network. Jumping=hucking, no?

Nice running into you today on the Munds Wagon but I still don't see what you're all fired up about. I hope you found the rest of Damifino ok.

why not? Im not passing it off as an xc race bike, but i also see where it says bike x "usually" weighs y, so that leaves plenty of room for the fact that some bikes may not fit into the catagory.

    gm,

i didn't join in your conversation with rockman today on-the-trail; i've grown weary of such things, having poured out too-many, too-similar vitriolic frustations of my own over the course of the last decade or more, trying to convince others (i'm looking at you prodigal son) to see things my way when it come to making changes to what i've always perceived as my trails here in flagstaff.

but, while i sympathize with your frustrations, i cannot join you in your argument. and here's why: i know you're going to lose. those who care to spend their sweat-equity and free time working on trails will win. they have the initiative. they have the will. they are the braceros. and they will do what they choose to do and no one, not you, not the usfs, not a gang of angry freeriders will ever make them stop doing what you hate.

plus, in addition to losing this battle, you will lose the daily pleasure of riding, because you will spend your riding time being angry and not happy. you will lose friends, because people will tire of your grousing about rock all the time. you will lose the respect of your online peers because, like a ******, you will spam forum boards with your blah-blah-blah opinion.

so, once again, here's the voice of experience: stop. just stop. you're one man who wants to ride, up against at least one man who wants to make places for people to ride. he has two things you don't have: the upper-hand and the mccleod. accept it.

GMH, if you are going to cast swill over the boards about TrailDoc, you might as well throw your angry words at me too. I carry a shovel as well. Upset about Teacup, well get your facts straight about whose idea about sanitizing started with . You have been here 8 months eh? I've only been here 18 years riding and watching trails all over northern arizona evolve. Ever wonder why every system trail is 10 feet WIDE at every little technical section? Originally these trails were only maybe 20 inches wide before people like you started to ride outside of the line. Do you ever wonder why these trails look and ride like crap directly down the fall line? This is not Seattle. You need to watch what rain and bikes in the desert do to trails over time. This rain sounds like tourists who watch your best riding buddy try and try the steep little drop on Little Horse. We all cheered when she cleaned it. She has improved, hopefully you can do the same?

maybe. maybe not. i don't really know enough about gm's opinions. except what i heard him say to rockman on the trail today. hard to say if i agree or not.

i just wanted to proffer a little advice from my experience here in flag.

which is, in a nutshell (omitting the bigger words): you will lose this argument. shut up. go ride.

    thanks to x,y,z's efforts
oh, yes they volunteered and did it so they could clear it on a hardtail

what, I now must find somewhere else to ride my fox36 equipped bike?

I reallize I am a minority here. I realize you all can clear it now. kudos, to you all. I liked it when I couldnt clear it and had something to go work at.

How can I improve skills when every time the shovel lords go out they make the primary line easier? then why complain that the trail is wider? In colorado, seattle, and NY, NJ we have aLOT of riders, volume wise. multi use should mean multi line. not the dumb it down mentality which prevails here. I'm watching it get worse, only not in 18 years, in ONE

You want me to not 'seek' a harder line, then stop messing up the original rugged lines. why fix what isnt broken? or whats broken for you is PERFECT for others

This is all I am saying, TD, and you, and the usfs, could try to be responsive to the needs of trail users. Some more seeking AM, some seeking XC and some who want FR.

What I have seen in all the posts is "RA! RA!" cheering party that seems to be touron driven, pro sanitization. sorry, I live here now, and I'm not going

    ANYWHERE

y'all have a hard on for the climbs, many riders here on smaller bikes..
I own 5 bikes, some are my climbers and some descenders
I do see that climb centric mentality, and its tilted..I get my fix on the gravity sections.

we must learn to respect eachothers needs,no?
    maybe not?
I think my intentions, regardless of my realization of futility, arent ill intended at all.

    GM:

I just got home from one of the best Sedona ride days I have ever had. I have posted videos and gps tracks of many of the trails I personally like to ride. In most of those posts I indicate the trail is mainly suitable for an advanced skilled rider and that an intermediate rider will probably walk certain sections or get injured trying to ride the whole trail.

    OK WTF JUST HAPPENED?????????
I was reading traildoc's last post 8 minutes afeter he posted it, and I swear to all that is holy the last line was:

"And please don't consider me to be a racist, I have slept with a black man before, so it's not possible."

    It was just below

"Trail maintenance takes a lot of skill, it's kind of like being an orthopedic surgeon, you don't just learn it in a couple weeks it takes years of actually doing it until you get good at it."

I clicked the quote button to reply to traildoc's post, and ask what the aformentioned sleeping with black mean had anything to do with his trail work, and that line was gone. I pressed the back button on my computer, to get to the main thread, and there it was again!!!!! So I copied it, went to quote again, and like a fart in the wind, that sentence has dissapeared! Except for on my clipboard.
So. WTF? I don't care who you sleep with, but I am curious what does it have to do with your trail work (which I have no opinion on haveing never ridden Sedona).

I just went through my PM's and to be honest one of them indicated you might be experiencing some hate type issues and that I should be careful in the future. To be honest I don't know what to think. I have posted the PM's for others to have on record in case you know things get out of hand.

A gay guy where I use to work in San Francisco tried to get me to have sex with him back in the late 90's. When I told my friends in the office about it he decided to not ask me to have sex with him anymore.
