Who will be "The Rio" King and Queen of Jester? - Austin, TX March 2006

    For Immediate Release:

Rio Grande Mexican Restaurants are launching a new restaurant in downtown Austin and are kicking it off in "Hillacious" style. "The Rio" has signed on to be the title-sponsor of Austin’s famous King of Jester™ hill climb. On March 5th "The Rio" King of Jester will challenge runners, cyclists, and many others to take on Jester Blvd, Austin’s steepest hill. Participants can race against the clock in a ‘time trial’ format. There are divisions for cyclists, runners, and alternate human power like in-line skates and unicycles!

New for 2006: Mass start events! Runners will go head to head in a 1-mile race up the hill and back down. Cyclists can race their friends in a mass start hill climb. Cash and prizes will be awarded for all divisions and the King and Queen of Jester titles will be awarded to the best times in the time trials. “The Rio” King of Jester is one of the most spectator-friendly bike and running races since fans can line the hill and cheer on their favorite racers. At the bottom of the hill, there’s a huge party with great music, food, and product demos for everybody to enjoy.

Rio Grande Mexican Restaurants have been huge supporters of the active community in Colorado. “We’re thrilled about ‘The Rio’ King of Jester”, said Christine Sullo, Marketing Director of the Rio. “We’ve heard about how fun and exciting the King of Jester has been in past years and had to be involved. Our restaurants are fun and healthy and very popular with the active crowd.” The Austin Rio will be located at 301 San Jacinto, on the corner of 3rd and San Jacinto. This location is extremely exciting, both for its proximity to the thriving center of Austin and because it was most recently used to host MTV’s The Real World. Their menu features fresh home made recipes using all natural ingredients. The anticipated opening will be March 1st, 2006.
