March 26, 2007; Seymour, CT- Winners of the Sea Otter Classic expert men’s 25-29 and expert women’s 19-39 cross country events will be heading home with more than a Sea Otter Classic race medal this year, as Thule car racks will be awarding each of them with a one-year sponsorship from the company. The sponsorship package includes a new Thule car rack system, racing kit, and the company will cover the athlete’s competition entry fees in 2007. The Sea Otter Classic men’s and women’s expert cross country races are being held on Sunday April 15, 2007 at the Laguna Seca Recreation Area, Monterey, California.

“Amateur racers keep the sport of cycling and events like the Sea Otter Classic going,” said Eric Wallace, Thule’s Western States Envoy. “Some of the top teams and individuals in the sport of mountain biking use and endorse our products, and although amateur racers may not get front page treatment in magazines, they love the sport as much as the pros and this is our way of saluting a few of them for their contribution to the sport.”

In addition to the sponsorship, each racer will be profiled on ThuleRoadTrip.com, and their race results will be followed through out the year on the site. Thule will award the winners with the year long sponsorship contracts at the awards ceremony for their respective event.

The winners will be joining the ranks of such Thule supported mountain bike competitors and teams as reigning 4-Cross World and National Champion and 2006 Sea Otter Classic Mountain Cross Champion Jill Kintner, reigning Super D National Champion and 2006 Sea Otter Classic Short Track Champion Adam Craig, Team Giant, and the Kona Factory Team.

Thule will be adding to its roster of citizen athletes throughout the year at other events in a number of other athletic disciplines including skiing, snowboarding, running, and paddling.

Thule is the official rack system of the 2007 Sea Otter Classic, A CELEBRATION OF SPORT, and title sponsor of the inaugural Sea Otter Classic Thule Adventure Race.

Thule is proud to support some North America’s top mountain bike riders and programs including the Kona- Les Gets Factory Team, Team Giant, Rocky Mountain- Business Objects, and Rad Racing Northwest mountain bike teams; as well as reigning and 2-time 4-Cross World and National Champion Jill Kintner (Team GT), reigning and 3-time Super D National Champion Adam Craig (Team Giant), Kirt Voreis and the Santa Cruz Allride Tour, and the SRAM and Shimano neutral support programs.
