    Magura Gets the Western Spirit

    July 18, 2006

Magura USA has agreed to provide their extensive and versatile selection of hydraulic disc brake products to the popular tour company, Western Spirit Cycling Adventures.

Western Spirit Cycling Adventures offers road and mountain bike tours for the ultimate cycling vacation. A huge variety of trips are available for any level bike rider. Guests can choose from trips in Colorado, Utah, Idaho, Arizona, New Hampshire and many other states. The routes are extraordinary, the food is fresh and plentiful, and the guides are fun. Magura GM Jeff Enlow says, "We have personally experienced Western Spirit trips and have come away with great and fulfilling experiences. As a result Magura USA saw a great opportunity to supply Western Spirit's hard working guides and rental fleet with top-line Magura equipment." Western Spirit will be running Marta SL brakes on all their ride equipment through 2007. Western Spirit co-owner and lead guide Mark Sevenoff says, "We have always been well aware that Magura's Marta SL is the most versatile brake available and are now pleased to be running such great equipment for our team and guests." The Marta SL, with its beautifully hi-tech carbon fiber lever blades, is the lightest hydraulic disc brake available at 324 grams. Features include an integrated reservoir, a lever reach adjustment and a choice of 180mm or 203mm rotors for added stopping power. Marta SL has consistently been rated the best hydraulic disc brake in editorial tests and reviews. Recently, Mountain Bike Action's [January 2006] 'Disc Brake Shootout' resulted in the Marta SL taking "Best Overall" honors. New for '06, the Marta SL will be offered in Red or Gold anodized colors, complimenting nearly any ride.

Based in Bad Urach, Germany, Magura has been a leader in hydraulics engineering and technology for over 100 years. Magura innovations have included the first ever hydraulic mountain bike brake [1987] and the first "adjust-on-the-fly" motorcycle clutch lever for off-road racing legend Malcom Smith [1968]. Magura USA, located in Olney, IL, provides sales and technical support for North America.
