    Flyte Launches YANKEE- ZULU™ 6” Dual-Suspension Frame

May 12, 2006 Springboro, OH – Flyte Bicycles, designed and distributed worldwide exclusively by Echelon Sports Products (ESP), is excited to unveil the new YANKEE-ZULU ™ hydro-formed aluminum Xross-Mountain dual-suspension platform featuring 6” of rear wheel travel and complete bikes tipping the scales under 28 lbs.

Constructed from specially engineered Custom Butted and Hydro-Formed 6061 Aluminum Tubing; allowing our engineers to maximize frame stiffness and durability, while minimizing weight. Through the hydro-forming process, a single aluminum alloy tube is inserted into a custom die, which is closed before the tube is pressurized with fluid. The resulting shape of the Hydro-Formed tube is both lighter and stronger than comparable diameter 6061 tubing with welded gussets. Sparing no cost, the head tube, dropouts, pivot yoke, and shock tabs are all precision CNC machined to ensure close tolerances and high strength in these crucial areas.

At the heart of the frame’s design is Flyte’s DEEP SIX™ Single Pivot Rear Suspension; utilizing oversized 30mm Sealed Cartridge Bearings the frame produces 150mm / 6'' of rear wheel travel. The Yankee-Zulu uses a simple and durable single pivot, designed specifically to take advantage of Answer Product’s SPV™ suspension technology. The rear pivot has been optimally positioned to balance the requirements of neutralizing pedaling forces; while allowing the rear suspension to be reactive to small frequency bumps and very good at taking bigger hits without bottoming out. The result is an off road frame with almost no pedal-induced bob, unbelievable descending stability, and surprising climbing capabilities.

The Yankee Zulu features a proprietary AMX™ (All Mountain Xross-platform) Geometry which keeps the wheelbase short for nimble handling in single track together with a neutral 69° head tube angle; the frame will accommodate fork travel from 100mm to150mm (4 – 6”). Another unique feature is the use of the ONE.POINT.FIVE head tube standard which increases the strength and stiffness of front end and permits the use of forks using either 1.5” or 1 1/8” steerer tubes.

For icing on the cake, The YANKEE-ZULU is bathed in a two-tone black and grey Dura-Max™ Powder Coat Finish; giving the smooth glossy finish the same hard-hit durability as the frame itself.

Taking advantage of Flyte’s online Bike Wizard™ Custom Bike Builder empowers consumers to build the Yankee-Zulu into a complete bike with an emphasis in the following three disciplines:

    1. Long Travel XC
    2. All Mountain
    3. Flat Out Freeride

With a retail price of $599.00 for the Frame including headset, this is a highly competitive and versatile platform that will be hard to beat. Flyte is offering complete bikes starting at $1799.00 / 30.35 lbs. with a variety of component options from Shimano, SRAM, Bontrager, Answer, Mavic, Avid, Fi’z:ik, and other premium suppliers.

Jamie Raddin, President & Owner, says, "The Yankee Zulu is the best of trail bikes – it descends like a downhill bike, but pedals and climbs like an aggressive cross-country bike. Depending on our clients build choices the Yankee Zulu can tip the scales under 28 lbs." He further comments, “The unmatched value and a simplistic single-pivot suspension design highlight this all-day adventure bike."
