Chatel Mountain Cycle Team winners of the World Cup!

For the last round of the UCI World Cup season, the Down Hill circuit made a stop at Maribor in Slovenia, a welcome return to a legendary course last used by the World Cup a
    few seasons ago.

Our riders Floriane and Esteban are too joung to have been there before, but that did not stop them from grabbing some late-season points!

Floriane seemed to like the track (could it be because of a strong resemblance to her training tracks at Châtel?), and she enjoyed a superb end to her last race as a Junior, by
    ending up classified 4th overall!

Coming just one week after her World Championships Junior title, Maribor marked a new era for Flo; her first “full” international podium ranked with the adult Elite riders. In the World Cup, the first 5 riders are presented on the podium, and here she stood alongside Atherton, Moseley and Hannah, and ahead of other famous riders such as Gaskell, Jonnier and Quin!

If we needed it; this really proves that Floriane is set to cross over onto the Elite stage, and this will give her an enormous boost in morale for for the next seasons!

At the same time, she officially wins the World Cup 2007 Junior classification!!

Esteban enjoyed another great qualification round, and rode well to come in 57th in the finals. His usual gung-ho riding style proved that he also likes the muddy roots and varied terrain found at Maribor!

We were also delighted to invite one of the riders from our Mountain Cycle sister-team Franche-Compte, another rising star called Yannick Colomb, who we took under our wing for his first in World Cup race. A good start for Yannick in qualifying, though some small faults just stopped him short for the final. Out of 80 riders selected for the final, he came amazingly close in 86th place.

So while the International season is now finished for the downhillers, not so for the cross country guys, who will be riding at the Roc d'Azur in a few weeks time!

This week we leave for the Interbike show, where we will be at both DemoDay and the main Venetian expo, so if you are there just come over and say hello !
