Bullet ends 2-year olds Easter and life

I know... I know... if handguns were outlawed the child probably would have been killed by a stray knife or bat or something or other flung by the two idiots that were fighting.

Or if only more people had guns than maybe someone else could have shot the shooter before he escaped. Yeah, that would have made things all right.

Mother begs police to find shooter

NEW YORK (AP) -- Sobbing and clutching her son's toy, the mother of a 2-year-old killed when a stray bullet pierced their minivan on Easter urged police to find her son's killer.

"I want him to wake up every day and see my face and hear my voice and see my son's picture every day," Joanne Sanabria told reporters.

David Pacheco Jr., dressed in his Easter best, was strapped in a car seat Sunday afternoon as the family drove through the Bronx a few miles from home.

"I was driving and I heard the gunshot and I heard my son screaming," Sanabria, 28, said Monday. "God only knows how much I wish that bullet would have hit me."

Her daughters, ages 8 and 11, and her sister's family were also in the vehicle but unharmed.

According to police, the shots were fired as two groups of men argued.

An off-duty emergency medical technician, Angelo Cruz, heard the gunfire and ran to help the toddler, but the shooter disappeared.

The little boy had been struck in the chest and was pronounced dead about 45 minutes later.

His father, David Pacheco, said Monday he owes his thanks to Cruz. He said the resuscitation effort gave him time to see his son alive one last time.

Grieving family and friends described the boy as energetic and always smiling. "He was a happy kid," his uncle Victor Castillo said.

    That is so heartbreaking.

Guess we all feel so much safer now that we can keep our guns, huh?

Don't ask me a question unless you really want to hear what I think.

    Sad story.

but... I highly doubt the handgun that fired the bullet was legally owned. The kinds of guys who get into arguments and start shooting each other don't typically have licensed weapons. If guns were outlawed it really wouldn't make any difference in this kind of situation.

I cannot imagine how devastating that would be to those parents. Life is so fragile.

naturally it has to be a story about urban minorities and their violence.

I seriously doubt that the pasty-white WASPs and the Shin Bet death squads were doing anything violent yesterday.

I seriously doubt that Dubya Bush let troops fire on anyone on Easter Sunday.

I seriously doubt that the rarified upper middle and upper class Respectable Americans ever do anything wrong.

    to a promising, untainted life.

I have to agree with you though, even if all us law abiding righties and lefties aggreed to outlaw hand guns, the criminals would still have guns.
