hey all! anyone here know if the Shimano XT Front Derraileur from a 2010 Mach 5 could work with a 10-speed XT Crank(DYNASYS)????
Did you just email us?
If it's a bike we have recently shipped to a dealer, chances are it has a Dynasys FD on it, but if your frame is an older stock from their inventory, then it likely has a 9 speed FD. Look for the Dynasys logo on the FD to confirm.
9 speed FD and 10 speed cranks are what Shimano calls a C compatibility - meaning - you may get it to shift, but you will have problems, possible chain dropping due to the narrower chain on 10 speed, and wider cage on 9 speed FD. Also the ramps aren't lined up correctly for smooth shifting, and the cage profile will sit real high and you will likely push the chain off the large ring when shifting up.
Hope that helps.
