So, the Loaded grips were suffering after a couple of good stacks, so I've gone with something new

They're called Grip Rings, and come in a range of colours. Thanks again to Pushie Enterprises for the gear!

/edit: Ha, I also almost forgot! Changed the bars to Syntace 680mm jobs. 710mm was great in the really rough downs, but a bit too wide for my back on longer days. The 680mm have 12deg sweep, 10mm rise, but no upsweep, so I get a nice sweep with a wrist friendly flatness, while also getting a slightly more upright position for my back :)

Are they foam or rubber? One piece or individual rings? Kinda cool looking either way :)

They're a silicon rubber compound. Quite grippy, but with some good compliance. Haven't actually ridden them except across the street, so the weekend will be the first proper test.

Yep, they're individual rings, and there's about 8 or so colours, so you could really get creative with your choices :)

I scooted my seat forward about 5mm, does that count for anything?

Haha, of course it does Dan!

The real question though, is how did that affect your ride? Positive, negative? Thoughts? ;) :D

Very Positive! I've been running a FOX 34 160mm, and I love it. I have a 5.7 carbon, size large with an 80mm stem. I pushed it forward to help center me on the bike better, so I could weight the front end more, and it did the trick.

Would putting a down payment on a 429c count? :D

Why not? Do you have the build all planned out?

swap the front shifter for the X0 I have
    maybe new brakes.

I actually haven't put my money down yet. I was thinking of going with the stock XT build and then switching out some parts, but my LBS has an XT/XTR Pro model on order already. They may have me talked into the upgrade, but it will depend on $ and which color they ordered.

I am still holding out to see how much it weighs. One of my big reasons for changing bikes this year was to shed some weight from my current bike (Turner 5 spot). I was super close to jumping on a SC TallboyC earlier this year, but wanted to wait and see the new Pivot and possibly the long, long, long awaited Ibis Ripley. Needless to say it's pretty much down to the Pivot or the Tallboy now.

That sounds reasonable to me. I was looking hard at an Ibis Mojo of some iteration or an Intense Carbine but was suggested that I look at Pivot. I was initially against it maybe only because I was familiar with the other two and Pivot was entirely new territory for me. I ended up going with the Pivot and am very glad that I did. I'm sure whichever you go with you will be happy.

i put the new Fox shock bushing system on my DXH air on my FB... big difference! it's like having the smoothness of RWC needle bearings again... (i really miss having those on my bike)...

we'll see how long those little plastic bushing things last. i hope they are cheap to replace:D...

Just put in a blackspire bashguard to replace the original SLX, and save about .02 oz. this will tremendously improve my climbing. Well not really, but it looks good!!!!!!!

    My 5.7
    2012 5.7 X0 Build Large 27 3/4 lbs
    Easton Haven Stem 70mm
Easton Havoc Carbon Handlebar 750 MM w/ Lizard Skin Peaty Grips installed them yesterday  (from a haven 711mm)
    Reverb Seatpost
X0 crank with Race Face 32T 1X10 w/ XTR Trail Pedals
    MRP Lopez Chain Guide
X9 Rear Der Type 2 smmall cage installed yesterday  (from a X0 Der)
Maxxis Minnion DHF 2.25 1 ply front
Kenda Slant 6 rear both converted tubeless
For some reason in 2012 the front rotor came stock 160mm on these bikes. Changed it out to a 185mm yesterday.

Took it for a ride today. 750mm bars rule. Ive never felt so comfy. As far as the X9 type 2 small cage it feels snappier shifting than the regular X0 rear der it replaced more than likely due to the small cage. My bike is 100% anit- chain slap right now except when pedaling because chain guide pulley's naturally make a bit of noise. :D

Apparently it shipped this morning, so hopefully it gets here Saturday or I will be waiting here longer. I was told a bolt was missing or something and that's why it took so long.

Ders to XO, type 2 rear
