    Removing firebird front der assembly

Very basic question from a new firebird owner. I plan on running a 1x9 setup with chainguide. Is it acceptable...or necessary to remove the floating front derailleur assembly? It would seem so as it the chain plate, mount, and hardware are only relevant to the derailleur? I don't want to remove critical components though.
    Thanks!

Yes i say go ahead and remove it, no need to keep the weight there. I did the same. Remove the spring first using some needle nose pliers.

It all comes off without any problems when you fit the chainguide.

Good point dog, but you also may want to play around with the spacer on and off - i have an mrp g2 sl. I started with the spacer on, then felt the guide was too far to the right, and dragged in the low gear. So i removed it and used washers to nudge the guide over to the perfect position.

I just used the washers that came with the LG1+. I used the plastic piece when I put the front derailleur mount back on recently.

If you haven't noticed already, the full length housing setup will let you remove the F. Der and shifter without disconnecting the cable which is pretty cool if you decide to put them back on later.
