    acej1,
is the color of your bike graphite grey? is it as dark in person as it shows in the picture. trying to decide on color and the pivot website and mag ads show the grey as really light but i heard it was darker in person.

Yes, the Mach 5's grey color is a dark graphite grey. The Pivot website pictures are off comparing to the actual colors in person. You can go to your local bike shop and check it out in person.

The head-tube is on the tall side, so I've replaced the stem with a Truvativ and flipped it to get the bars down.

    Post your Pivots here!-880.jpg

Would've preferred a mid-cage, but the decision to replace the X0 I already had with XX was a spur of the moment thing.

Placebo-X - VERY nice. I really want to try that setup on my FB as well. When Shimano releases their 36t 9 speed, I think you can go to the mid cage, as long as the front CR isn't too big. I found the HT to be a little short for my setup, but each person likes their bike to fit a lil different. Let us know how you like the XX when you get a chance!

Introducing Big Brown Betty. Very, very excited to add this bike to my stable. It will be my front range, do it all slayer. Pretty sure I am going to have to sleep in the garage tonight.

Got some upgrades on the way, going double with bash guard and switching to med cage deraileur. Carbon bars.

Then some air time and a seperate set of wheels for shuttling.

yes, it looks kind of tall.
I'm 6.1 but have long legs, the stem is the one that comes with the xt build kit, don't know exactly how long is it.

    Love my Mach 5...

Here's my new toy. I got it a couple month ago after returning from an eight month deployment, and it has exceeded all my expectations. I based my decision to buy this bike, and chose the right size (LG) based mostly on what I read in these forums...so, thanks to you all for the info and good advice. I went with the "XT Build", and the only thing I've changed so far is the seat post, for a Thomson Masterpiece, and adding some new XTR pedals. No other major changes planned, though I'm not sure I'll stay with the seat (it's comfortable, but a little noisy). Once my wife forgets how much I spent on this bike, maybe I'll think about a lighter set of wheels for endurance XC riding...

Here my mach4 that I just build it and try it on this trail (28 miles of hell). I just remove all the component on my stumpy to this bike so she is on the heavy side for now (26.9 lbs). I am very happy with this bike.

I'm lucky enough to be experimenting with some rear shocks. The ISX-6 because it came up for $200AU new and the CCDB because i thought i'd give it another go with the current spring rate and it worked! I've ben very happy with the DHX Air andi think it's going to be hard to beat on this bike, but it can't hurt to play. So here is the Firebird with the CCDB fitted...

And this is how the Evolver ISX-6 fits. The main chamber had to be rotated 180deg for the valve to clear the rocker arm.

And because i must have deleted my Mach 5 picture from photobucket, here it is again...

Ok , heres my 429 .... it started out life as a MED Blue/White 429.

I had a problem with the head tube size and it was replaced IMMEDIATELY by the Australian importer . The Pivot customer service is second to none , Chris Cocalis himself was sending me the emails to sort it out...very pleased with the service

The colour didnt really matter to me and the replacment frame in Blue/White had a few days delay , they offered me any of the ano finished frames for immediate replacment so i got a black one.

I have still got the wheels to build up , they will be the same as the ones thats on it now only red hubs in place of the blue. Wheels are tubeless with around 100g stans sealant (new rear 2.25 SS fitted today), brake hoses need shortened and the steerer will be chopped a bit more when i finalise the cockpit adjustments

Weighed today at 11.985KG or 26.42lbs . Rides absolutely beautifully.

EDIT: Updated pics with new cranks and hoses shortned

I've found the opposite with the Australian importer. They didin't know anything about the carbon rocker arm on the Firebird being beefed up from the original design or that an alumnium version is available. I've spoken to their reps at events, on the phone and in a bike shop with little help from any of them. The standard respone i get is to get my LBS to sort it out with them and they don't deal with the public. Fair enough, but they don't seem to deal that well with the LBS. Despite a rep being in the shop when I ordered a new hanger for my Mach 5 i'm still waiting for it. That was nearly 2 months ago.
