I've spoken to their reps at events, on the phone and in a bike shop with little help from any of them. The standard respone i get is to get my LBS to sort it out with them and they don't deal with the public. Fair enough, but they don't seem to deal that well with the LBS. Despite a rep being in the shop when I ordered a new hanger for my Mach 5 i'm still waiting for it. That was nearly 2 months ago.
Sorry to hear about that crank1979.

To be a bit clearer, Chris or Rob at Pivot told Jetblack (ozzy importer) to courier the frame to them , check it was out of spec then send me a new one.
Truthfully mate i dont buy anything in Australia usually, its just too hard and too expensive everything comes from the US and UK .

I've been surprisingly happy with the Kenda SB8 on the rear on my Mach 5. It's the 2.1" UST version. I run the 2.25" UST Maxxis Ardent up front. Rock, sand, wet, dry, the SB8 has really been significantly better than I expected. Another tyre I'd suggest would be the Maxxis Crossmark.

I run a couple of different sets of tires, depending on the riding. All are UST.

Socal rocks and drops, more aggressive:
    Continental Rubber Queen 2.2 rear
    Schwalbe Nobby Nic 2.4 front

    XC racing, less aggressive:
Specialzed Fast Track SWorks LK 2.0 rear
    Schwalbe Racing Ralph 2.1 front

I tried the 2.2" RQ on the front of my Mach 5 for a few rides and just found it too big for the bike. It takes up so much space at the front! It is a brilliant tyre though so if an AM style tyre is what you're after it's pretty much perfect I think. I run the 2.4"front and 2.2"rear on my Firebird.

Have Schwalbe improved their sidewalls in the last 2 years? I killed my UST Nobby Nics in about 5 rides by tearing through the sidewalls. The knobs didn't hold up too well on the rear and I wasn't too keen on how it cornered on the front. The best thing about them was the lack of weight. At the time I changed to them from 2.5"UST Maxxis Minions as AM/trail tyres.

The 2.25" Ardent might not be grippy enough on the back because it is a fairly rounded profile. I found it to slip a bit when I tried it as a rear on the Mach 5 but a mate runs them front and rear on his Nomad with no problems.

I have not had any problems with the Schwalbes on the front. I ripped up the ones that I put on the rear so that is why I have gone with other tires. Sidewalls have been fine, but I weight 160 lbs and have never really had problems with tearing tires or pinch flats. FWIW, I run 25 psi in the front and 27 psi in the rear.

For the most part, I like the way that both the Schwalbe RaRa and NN corner on dry Socal trails. I may try a RQ up front for my AM setup. I do not think that the 2.2 is that big, but I have a buddy who runs a 2.4 and that is massive - way bigger than my 2.4 NN. I may just have to run 2.2s front and rear.

    Hi guys!

Ive got some questions for us!

Andy D and Timwelch, our bikes are absolutely AWESOME!!!

Please give if you want, the degree of the direction that already have it with the talas/float 180mm. I think this is my next bike but its very important for me to know all the features of this bike, specially with a 180mm fork because its exactly what i want.

thanks a lot and congratulations... Iam very jelous

Hey - weighed my bike yesterday as pictured, except with the carbon rocker and a FloatR shock. 33.2lbs.

But soon I'll have a Float 36 - 180 on there and not sure what else I'm gonna do. Maybe 1x9 with the Action Tec 39 tooth? I REALLY dig 1x9 (and 1x10) but even the 36 tooth is gonna be tough to ride around here when it's muddy.

I would look at a Hammerschmidt if I were you. I road with some buds last month and 3 of them were using HS's on there AM/ FR bikes. I road one of the bikes and was impressed by the ease of shifting anywhere any load no problems. With the HS the shifting is as quick and easy as the rear shifting.

The Nobby Nic on front with the Racing Ralph on the back make a great combination. I have them mounted on the DT Tricon rims and setup tubeless.

Those are the Jagwire Hyflow Hoses and Jagwire Ripcord Derailleur Cables. Just got em on this weekend. No ride report just yet. But I got them installed, bled and tested around the neighborhood. They seem to work as hydro cables should. I'll report back after a few rides.

I run the same on my Mach 5 with XT brakes and also have XT brakes using standard hoses on my Firebird and Anthem. Besides appearance I can't tell any difference with the hoses.

39/27. I had been running a 36/22 11-34 2x9 setup for years. The XX ratios are very close to the 9 speed ratios.

Just got this 2011 Pivot mach 4 built up by Adam and the guys at Golden Bike shop in CO.
Came in at 22.5lb or a bit over 10kg, feels so much stiffer than the asr it has repalced. Cant wait to get back home to Melbourne to hit up the local trails.

Very nice bike D-man. I would be extremely tempted to get that rear triangle painted black to match the fork.

Mmmm... Painting in black is a good option, but more delicated than anodized... My painted swingarm in just half a year of use, was poorly

@Markhester39 sick looking bike. I've put a blue one on order so hopefully I'll be able to post mine up soon.

What spec's are you running? Is that a 100 or 120 mm fork?

I'm buying mine with a F120 but may put it down to 100, I'll play with it and see how it feels.

They really are unbelievably bikes hey.

It's a 100mm RLC with 15mm axle very happy with it.
Wheels - stans crest with king hubs
    Group - SRAM xx
Seat post - Thompson masterpiece and Thompson stem
    Bars - edge flat bars

I'm really impressed with the front shifting it is just like the marketing hype and the lateral stiffness of the rear end compared to the yeti asr it replaced.

There's so many cool Pivots on here I thought id'e post mine.
I think mine might be the only 'white" coloured mach 5 on the forum actually.
A quick list of the specs are as follows
    *Fox Talas 140mm fork
    *Mavic Crossmax St wheelset
*Avid Elixir R brakes with Hope rotors
*Shimano XT front and rear derailleur and XT gear levers
    *Shimano SLX cranks
*KS I900 seat post with Fizik Gobi saddle
*Chromag Stem and handlebars with Odi Troy lee grips.
weight is about 12.8 without pedals.
definatly not a light weight but still rides great.

This seems to be the first size L Mach 5.7 here, first time I saw how size L looks was when I held my frame in my hands. The brace on seat tube is really nicely done.

Part list is not very interesting at this point, I just want to get the fit and and suspension dialed first and get better parts later on. There is some new stuff in the steering and seating department but most parts are lifted from my HH100x.

How does it ride? I don't know yet, I have about a kilometre on it now as I'm just recovering from stomach surgery and besides that have little experience with current trail machines. I have been riding my HH100x for seven years with just few rides on other bikes, hopefully this will turn out to be keeper too.
The pic gives a little hint about the (lack of) trail conditions....

There's the second Pivot Mach 429 in our household. This one's mine and is a fresh buildup, in some ways similar to the factory build with the obvious difference being the Easton Havens. Not so obvious are the changes in cassette, Maxxis Aspens, WTB Rocket, Thompson post. The bar and stem are temporary stand-ins until my Easton bar arrives.

I'm in full skiing mode right now so even so much as a test ride will have to wait for spring, or for a short road trip. Looking forward to lining up with the 429 on the starting line for some racing next year.

Thanks to my friends at Roll: and Pivot for the great bikes. This is my second Pivot and I absolutely love the suspension design and frames. You have to ride one to understand.

Glad you like it ! So here are my specs, for a typical Hard XC / All Mountain usage :

    PIVOT Mach 5.7 Size M
    TALAS 140 QR15 (110-140mm)
    Headset : FSA OrbitZ
    Drivepost: Thomson X4 10deg 90mm + MonkeyLite CNT-XC Low rise + ODI O-MTB
Drivetrain : full XT 3x10 (24x32x42 and 11x36) Look Quartz Carbon pedals
    Brakes : Elixir R
Seatpost : Titan Evo + Fizik Gobi Kium
Wheels : ZTR Crest + Red Hope Pro2 + Sapim CxRay (local custom built by BiBiWet)
Schwalbe Nobby Nic 2.25 Evo 2010 Tubetype + Caffelatex

Only 150 kms this month (were freezing now!) but I still cant believe how well this bike handles rocks and roots we got around here, and both uphill and downhill

Hey thank you for that. Do you mind if I ask how you find the 3x10 XT.
I have also chosen a TALAS for my build vs the float and Crest rims with Hadley hubs so it will look very similar to yours but struggling with 2x10 v 3x10
    again super nice bike

about the XT 3x10 (my short experience)

Overall quite satisfied, and I was hesitating a lot like you!

The front derailleur with the direct mounting is so smooth and precise, no issue to use it often.
In fact I find the whole XT 2011 group is excellent, coming from many years with Sram : it is precise, quick,
much easier to setup and stable than previous Shimano I can remember (probably thanks to the new cable ratio closer to a 1:1)

I find myself using a bit more the middle ring because of the rear 11-36 of course,
but I still need the small ring and do use the 24x36 many times in a ride.
It can be steep technical climbs here and I prefer on the bike than pushing, this is part of the game for me.
And by the way I also use the TALAS at 110 mm for longer ones.

Bottom-line no plan to switch 2x10 personally, though I can fully understand it on a pure XC bike, or on other trails or for other legs ...

    Hi all

Been wanting to do this for a while..but every time i hit the trial I've always forgotten to take a pic of my bike b4 it gets too muddy....so here's pic of my new/old/current ride Its a 2011 Mach 5.7 Small Size

haha heres some basic details abt it:
Weight: 13.37kg (with the saddle pouch, fender and stuff added on)

Fork: Fox 2011 Float FIT140 (its OEM so no kashima coating..otherwise its exactly the same as the 2011 model)

Drivetrain system: XT shifters+Pedals, 9 speed XTR Shadow long cage rear with KMC 9spd chain

Tires: Maxxsis Minion DHF and DHR

Rims: Mavic 717 with Hope front (for versatility) and WTB Lite Rear (for speed/weight)

    Pedals: Xpedo Hurtle

    Seatpost: Thompson Elite

    Saddle: Gobi XM Klium Rail

Handlebar: RaceFace Next SL + Deus XC Stem

Yup can see that i didn't build this to be a weight weenie bike but any suggestions on how to reduce weight while maintaining/increasing parts strength are more than welcome

    Cheers and Happy trail riding!

The bike is an 09 that i picked up from a friend this past winter i still have yet to ride it on the trails and currently the RP23 is in Colorado at Push Industries getting tweaked to my 280lb girth. I am twitching so bad to get the shock back and to get out on the trails with this puppy.

    Pivot 429 = 4269

For one ride only I tried a 26" wheel on the back of my 429. I had to fix the other rim. Here's a pic of it. It felt nice too. Love this bike!!! It rides beautifully.

    Hola
