Don't worry. I've heard too many horror stories of garages being broken into and bikes stolen. Much safer in the house.

The bike is supposed to behave better with a 150 fork. There's a thread about it. Also, I wanted the bike to be perfoming well on the climbs...so it made more sense to drop it.

Been hooing and humming about getting a new bike and I was dead set on a Mach 5.7 carbon for about the same time coming on here. First and foremost the information I have gathered on here has been great in understanding what to get. 2 days ago I put my money where my mouth is and purchased a 2013 mach 5.7 carbon green in small frame with bottom bracket and headset. This should arrive in 2 weeks to start my build. Im so friggin pumped for this. I also ordered a fox float 34 which I will get the LBS to shim down to 150mm to try and get the angles as close to stock as possible. Again purchased with the help of members on this forum. My current plan is to build it up with all XT components as I have done this in the past and very happy with shimano on a whole. I already have a set of Mavic crossmax rims which I will use for this build. I am thinking going with easton Haven carbon bar and seatpost with the aluminum stem. My question would be 70 mm stem or 55mm I am on the shorter side 5'5", My current ride is at 65 mm so im guessing 70 mm would be good just looking for your thoughts. Also anyone using the easton havens? what are your thoughts. And lastley a good seat. I know this is really up to the rider and is different person to person Just thought I wanted to see what others are using. Anyway Hi to everyone and hopefully see people on the trails. I will start posting pics as soon as the frame shows up and during the build.

    Awesome build you have there.
Before you start worrying about stems and saddles get rid of the Haven seatpost and get yourself a dropper seatpost asap.
It will transform your bike instantly. By the way im 5'8 and ride a medium 5.7C and use 55mm Haven stem and 760mm handlebars. I can climb all sorts of techy uphill without to much front end wandering but with a short stem, wide bars and dropper post the bike just decends like a true all mountain machine.

    New to her Firebird

Just finished building and testing what was supposed to be a surprise bike for my wife but she got into my emails and found out (not in a creepy/overlord way).

Some parts were migrated over, some are new (the shiny ones)
    Medium Firebird w/ RP23
    Marz 55 RC3 Ti
Flow hoops on Hadley hubs (tubeless)
2.5 Minnion DHF and 2.4 Conti Mountain King II Protect
X9 drive train w/ XT cassette
    XT brakes
    Reverb 125mm
    Straitline bling

    34lb even.

Pivot Mach 5.7 Aluminum size large, XT/SLX build. Mostly stock except for Fox 34, Continental Trail King 2.2" tires, Easton Haven stem and carbon bar, Avid Elixir CR brakes, Chromag Lynx saddle, bash guard, and XT pedals with the cage. Oh and I ordered the 3x10 and removed the biggest ring so I could still have the tiny granny gear.

This bike has totally rejuvinated my trail/all mountain biking experience. Love it!
