Just took the plunge and built up a sweet new 429. Love everything about the bike, however I find 'Pivot' as a name to sound very cold and industrial. While I realize that this is indicative of the no-nonsense approach to frame building that the company has taken, I feel that maybe a softer, warmer name would be more appealing to a wider audience.
So, inspired by my recent trip to Quebec, I have taken to referring to my bike as a 'Pee-voh'. Now it has the air of history and mystique that I felt was missing. I can tell all my buddies that a Pee-voh bicycle actually won the Tour in 1934, and they would believe me even though it is obviously a bold-faced lie. I can watch a cute girl's flirty smile turn into a frown of disappointment after informing her that I am planning on spending the whole weekend with my Pee-voh. "Maybe one day I can be his petite pee-voh..." she will think to herself. Ha, unlikely!
Do you think it would be difficult to to etch an 'ť' after Mach to make it a 'Mah-shay' 429?
Have at it... enjoy your "fluffy" bike. When I get mine, I'll proudly call it by it's no-nonsense, industrial sounding name.
Do you feminize your tools, too? "Ham-ay" "Sock-ay wransh" "zhigh-saw" "
Whatever trips your trigger... or is that tri-jay?
I actually prefer "Pie-voh". I also happen to do most of my shopping at "Tarjay"

I will continue to call my Mach 5 Shaniqua, thank you.
Being in Santa Barbara (home of Old Spanish Days), I give my 429 a more hispanic nickname: "El Pivote."
The Socal sales rep for Pivot has a Firebird that everyone took to calling the "Cuban Flamingo", he's Cuban in case you didnt get that. Not sure what we are going to call his Phoenix, but it sure it sweet, 37lbs of sweetness to be exact!!!
Getting a dropper post is like getting a bidet. I didn't know I needed one until I get one and boy, does my ass thank me.
But their fries and toast are so delicious!

I ride down south of the border in TJ on my Macho 5; so far no permanent paint mods done, but there's something in the future fasho. I'm thinking a white-out paint mod will do the trick just fine.
