    Mach6 X01 Build owners

Hey Guys, I initially reserved a xt/xtr build but after more riding these past few weeks, I thought I get rid of the front d and shifter in favour of a single ring setup.

I can get the X01 with XT brakes for a abt $300 more but was wondering, isn't the retail price of the XO trail brakes more than the XT brakes?

Also, the OEM XO1 build comes with alloy cranks and rear d, did that add any weight over the carbon versions?

... upfront apologies for a quasi-thread jack, but are folks also setting up single rings with or without chain guides with the DW 2nd generation?

I was also looking at the XO build and would also like XT brakes in place of the XO. That and switch out the 34 for a Pike and you have near perfect build.

Yes the xt's are cheaper but you would be buying them after the fact. The cost savings of the xo1 is built in because you are buying the whole kit instead of piecing it out separately.

Dog, it is about the narrow/wide rings and not the suspension design. I run 1x on both my DW bike and FSR bike without issue or chainguide. Just make sure you have a clutch RD.

For the OP, $300 is VERY steep for an XT brake upgrade since that is more than the cost of the brakes. Might as well just buy them yourself and sell the stock ones on ebay.

Shimano XT BR-M785 Pre-Bled Disc Brake > Components > Brakes > MTB Disc Brakes | Jenson USA Online Bike Shop

The shop needs to make a profit and can't match the Jenson price, but they are taking advantage of you here.

This is exactly what I got, my LBS gave me a credit for the X0 brakes and Fox fork that came with the bike.

sorry what i meant was, the xo1 build will cost abt 300 more and that build comes with xo trail brakes which i requested to swap to xt brakes instead.

lbs didnt charge me extra nor is there any discount for swapping the more expensive trail xo brakes to xt brakes.

crc lists the retail for xo trail at 320+ each and 220 each for xt.

Ohh that bike looks so sweet. We need bike porn photos of her, plus a ride review.

I wish there was a little more flexibility on build kits. Very nice for your shops to work with you. I ended up getting just a frame because I wanted XT brakes and Pike fork. Seems like that is the consensus around here. In the long run, I will save money doing it this way and will save tax on all of the items bought separately.

Not to thread jack, but are most getting 150 Pikes or 160 Pikes? My frame is coming in within a week or so and am just starting to order all of the parts. Also trying to figure out which XX1 build kit to get. 175mm cranks working for everyone?

I think the only way that stealth could look better would be with carbon rims, red nipples and red hope hubs with (possibly) a red hipster chain. BLING MF'ING BLING!

I went with 160mm Pike, BB height didn't really go up from the listed height, I measured 13.6"

I have carbon wheels on mine now, but black spokes/nipples/hubs. No pics yet though, need to weight it again too. It was at 28.0lbs before the carbon wheels.

Ok, understood now. I would not expect any credit for the old brakes. How many people do you know that want the Avid's over XT's?
