    Nice setup razorjack, I'm interested in how it rides with the 34. Not sure if you had a 32 150 on there before but if you did do you notice much more stifness with the 34, or can you just comment on the stifness of the 34 in general? Also, if you are running it at 160 and haven't had it reduced to 150, how do you find the increased slackness effects the handling? Do you use the 120 setting much too?

    i had fox32 talas 100-140mm earlier, maybe it's a little stiffer, but i don't feel the difference, i'm not so experienced rider
    fox34 160 is ~16-17mm higher than fox32 150mm
    i use 120mm when climbing and during city riding.
    climbing on 160mm setting is much harder (steep climbs) witch such short stem

    Switched from the alum to carbon M5.7. The difference was astounding!! Maiden ride left a huge smile on my face!!!

    Wow Chongy, fan-frickin'-tastic build. Stout yet light. Same wheels I'm running on my bikes 'cept you have those ti spokes. Ti bolts everywhere, etc. I think the only thing I'd change is the stem (Thomson 50mm) and removing those excess chainrings

    edit to add: With all that work you put into the bike, I'm a little surprised you didn't use the ispec mounts. I desperately want the new Saint levers and ispec shifter mount for my bike.

    Thanks, depending on where you're located, you can order anodized ZTRs directly from project321. I've gotten mine from a local bike shop and they had their own source to anodize those rims.

    It looks like you also cover original white Pivot logos on the frame with blue film ones like me (except of R-registered sign )...

    Chongy, can you provide more of a description of the astounding differences? I have a 2011 M5.7 alu and have been wondering if it's worth upgrading to the carbon version. The geometry charts Pivot has listed on their site are identical for both versions.

    I was not sure if the i-spec mounts are compatible with the new saint brakes so that's why I did not decide to go ahead with it.

    The astounding differences that i was implying was meant to be the whole bike as a package, not just the carbon frame alone. There were several components which i had updated during the swap, eg: new saint brakes, new wheelset, nicely serviced and tuned fork etc. All these contributed to the improved feel of the bike.

    If I am to comment on the frame alone, it's definitely more stiff and rigid, something that can be felt from the first stroke of pedalling. And with the reduced weight, riding the same trails requires less effort for me but i guess you really have to try it yourself as these are only my personal opinions and it may not be true for others. Another thing that i noted was the increased bb height as compared to the 2011 M5.7 alum. Riding the same trails, there were significant reduction in pedal strikes, which is definitely a plus point.

    I used reflective red Avery tape guaranteed for 7 years outdoors I think (used also for traffic signs), so I don't care too much about it. Potentially exposed frame parts are covered by clear thick protective polyurethane film also used for cars (so called clear guard). Pivot should make also anodised hw that match the frame color, not just one-for- all (blue) and if so, it should be neutral (black or silver), IMHO.

    My frame came in two weeks ago and I got it today (been out of town). It looks great but I am slightly disappointed in the shock. I was assured it would be the '12 RP23 but it is actually the '13 CTD. Anybody have any feedback on the CTD?

    This is my first carbon mountainbike and I'm a little surprised that the coating is so fragile.

    I got the frame from my lbs and it was there as a testbike. I'm told that is has little miles behind.

    Looks like the top matte layer isn't holding anything. I actually dropped a hex key at the top tupe and it chipped very little off the coating.

    Obviously there hasn't been any frame protection what so ever and now I have put protection tape all the sensitive areas.

    I know this is only cosmetic but like I said I'm surprised.

    Does anybody else who doesn't use extra protection lose their matte finish down under?

    yep. i've lost some of that matte too.
    i put some additional black electrical tape on chainstays.
    I have very rocky (loose rocks) condition here, everyone (all frames, alu, carbon, giants, pivots, etc.) use protectors (for downtube) made from old tires.

    My Pivot 5.7C now with Light Bicycle carbon rims. Bike was fast with 819's-can't wait to try with new wheels. Hopefully take it out this Sunday.

    Mach 5.7 c

    My Pivot Mach 5.7 c , this bike works great, just I can´t find any fault, excellent performance in all ground conditions, lightweight ( 24.25 lbs) for a bike with 5.7 inches of travel, finishes are the best in carbon fiber ,this bike just makes me smile.

    This is the best stuff out there for frame protection! I use it on the BB of my Firebird and Session 88. Used it on my previous carbon Remedy. It hold's up to the rocks here in AZ so should work in most places. VERY sticky and shapes to every curve!!

    I have been looking to build a new bike this winter. So far I have narrowed it down to the 5.7c and the Yeti SB-66c. My one stumbling block on this frame is the lack of ISCG tabs.

    I read a bunch of reviews and I have seen in more than 1 article that they said Pivot would have an ISCG adaptor coming down the road. Is this true? Is there one available? Did they scrap that idea?

    I really like this bike but the lack of ISCG tabs makes it the one box I can't check off on my list of frame requirements.

    I'd be surprised if isgc makes it anytime soon. They recently said it means replacing the molds etc which is expensive.

    He was referring to the adapter solution that was made available for the ALU 5.7. Last Fall there were statements around creating a solution for the 5.7C as well. "Twas basically a ISG ring around the BB the you bolted on. I haven't seen it offered for the ALU 5.7 since the Spring and I highly doubt a similar solution is in the works for the 5.7C at this stage.

    It'll be simple composite plate (3mm thick i think) mounted on BB tube

    Not sure what it weighs (large frame) but I'm really happy about how it turned out. The purpose was to have a bike that would climb like a goat and still be confident in the descents. Just finished it so haven't ridden it yet but I'm itchin' to!

    I finally was able to ride mine yesterday and first impressions were amazing. I wanted a bike that could climb like a goat and still be a confident descender and I think that's exactly what I got. I didn't have much time to ride before I had to leave but I am very impressed with it.

    Just took my 5.7C XT/XTR Pro to my first ever day of lift-served riding at highland, and had a blast! It's not a DH bike for sure, but I was carrying enough speed that I was always in the top half of the big ring. Bike could definitely handle a lot more than I could (I stuck to the greens/blues). I did find I was dropping chains on some really rocky areas - even had it happen twice in 100 yards, once to the outside, once to the inside! Shame the frame doesnt' have ISCG mounts.

    Anybody figure out a way to add a 2x chainguide? Would be nice to toss on there for the DH days...

    Oh, and even the DH guys were drooling over the bike, which was cool. The Lifties kept lifting it up to check the weight after they pulled it off the chair - a bit lighter than the sleds they're used to!

    Maximum recommended by Pivot is 150mm and the minimum is 140mm. I'm rolling a Fox Float 150 and really like the fork and the way it makes the rest of the bike feel.

    Pivot recommends 150mm,
    however if you prefer more downhill ride you can put 160mm (Fox34 160 will be ~13-14mm higher)
    fox36 160 or Lyrik 160 will be ~20mm higher.
    It still rides well.
