Mach 429 Carbon compared to Ripley?

Got a chance to compare the 429c with the Ripley head-to-head at the Santa Cruz Mountain Bike Festival. My initial take is Ripley climbs better but 429 has higher fun factor. Response from Ibis forum is putting a 140mm fork on the Ripley would solve the issue. Interesting thought... both of these bikes truly rock.

Thanks for the review videos; very interesting. Deliberating over these two frames currently and interesting that you thought the Ripley climbed better. Could you expand on why? Was it the characteristics of the linkage or the lower weight / front end height?

At the moment I am leaning toward the Pivot as I already have a 100 / 120 Talas normal offset fork and would need to change this to a G2 offset fork for the Ripley, plus don't really need 120 up front.

Thanks for the kind words. My impression is the linkage and tight rear triangle were the big factors, but have to say the Ripley somehow works some magic too. It's a holistic kinda thing I guess...
