    Lunchbox link bearings?

Just got my lunchbox today and started swapping parts. I don't have a crank cap removal tool (can the new link be installed without pulling the crank and front DR?) or any anti-seize, so I didn't get all that far installing it tonight.

Maybe this is a dumb question, but can I pull the bearings from the original link and put them in the new (SL) link or does this new link need new bearings (and if so, why aren't they in the kit??)? Thanks!

The SL link uses a different bearing than the standard link. There are 4 double row bearings in it Vs 8 single row bearings in the standard. That's one way we saved weight on that link. The link is already assembled with new bearings so you don't have to put anything together. You do need to pull the cranks to install it though...

    Thanks, ken -

I was getting started last night and I guess it was late because it just looked like there weren't any in there! I just checked again and lo and behold, there they are! lol Guess I shouldn't work on stuff like this late at night!

Now to get the crankset off.

Well, got it all put together, except the headset which is on the way (the headset in the lunchbox is for a tapered HS, so my shop swapped it and it'll be here Tuesday). Love the look of the black and blue!!
