LES 29er - What size frame for 5'11"

    I'm 5'11" & currently on a Niner Air 9 C size large (90mm stem & in-line post) & thinking of a change to a LES.

Pivot recommend medium for my height.
Niner recommend either medium or large.
The large LES sizes up same as the Air 9 C.
Also have a Turner DW Flux large (19") 23.9" ETT.
Concerned about a long seat post on a medium LES.

So what size are people riding of a similar height?

I'm 6 foot. I demoed a large on Saturday and that is the size I plan to buy. It had a 100-110mm stem and felt fine, but I plan on running a shorter stem around 70mm. I run a 70mm stem on my medium M429c.

We list the frame size recommendations on the site, follow the link above.

    I would suggest a medium.

Dang-it Dan! I listened to you for my 429c and you were right on. I went out and demoed a large les and it felt fine, but I guess I should go for the med since your the expert and gave good advice the first time! Damn I wish I would have demoed a medium; I just didn't think about it and thought of a more laid-out fit for XC riding. The only thing that worries me, is that short seat tube. That's a lot of post sticking out for a 33 inch inseam.

    Thanks for chiming in!

    Any new colors to expect?
    Stealthier option would be nice.

I'm 5'11" and usually between a med and large in most frames. I recently demo'd a large Les 29 with 100mm stem and it felt like the right size. I would've liked to have tried a slightly shorter stem (90mm) but at no time did I feel too stretched out. FWIW I have long limbs and in general tend to prefer longer frames with shorter stems when possible. I sometimes end up on a frame with a longer wheelbase than I'd prefer because of this, but the Les' geometry is so well balanced it is both stable and has quick handling. Overall fantastic bike.

I'm 6' with a 33" inseam, and the LES is the first size medium I've ever felt comfortable on. I could also ride a large with a shorter stem, but the medium felt totally fine. By comparison, I ride a Large SC Tallboy LTc and an XL Tallboy c prior to that. Pivot is almost a full size larger in some of their frames than other manufacturers.

Demo if you have the opportunity, the most comfortable carbon hard tail I have tried, great bike and a blast to ride. At 6'2" I could go with a lg or an xl frame with the appropriate stem but I preferred the xl when I demoed them. Most other mfg's a large is out of the question.
