    Hate's Mach 6 Build

I'm going to shamelessly copy Vic's format and create a separate post for my Mach 6 build.

The parts have started to roll in and I'm getting anxious to start building. Unfortunately the wheels will be another week or two but here's some pics so you can see where this is going.

Now to find the patience to wait for the wheels.......

Looks like a nice start although -1 for those pedals. Something about crankbros and me don't get along. I picked up my poor mans mach 6 a couple of hours ago. Spent some time setting up the sag and controls (shop did a default build).

I got it in black/green. Disappointingly the shop put a red headset in which looks a bit naff but on the whole it is awesome. The poor man but is full slx and cross roc wheels, not quite the same pimped out ride as some if you but I am happy. Pedals are straitline amp's. Lovely things.

Cool! Will enjoy watching the build.

I have to agree with trick on the pedals though. I rode crank brothers for many years always wearing them out. Bought some Times and could not be happier. Much better retention and durability. Won't go back...

Looks great! Don't wait for the wheels you can get most of the build done before they show up.

I ended up getting the frame from Art's Cyclery because they had it in stock. I got it ordered and shipped on the same day.

As for the rest of the parts I got a smoking deal from BikerBob who I found from lurking on these forums. I sent over my wish list of parts and he had some pretty unbeatable prices. If you're building up a bike I'd highly recommend talking to him.

Yeah. I have to borrow a headset press from a friend and he's out of town until Tuesday. I'll be starting the build then to get everything I can together prior to the wheels arriving.

Cheers fella, already got a great deal with the bike shop. Actually looks like you've got almost the same spec list I choose.

+1 for Biker Bob. I purchased my XX1 kit, XT brakes, Canfield pedals, and many other parts for about the same price as the best deals you can find on eBay. Great customer service and I would rather support Bob than some stranger on eBay. Highly recommend.

Bike looks great, almost a clone to my bike. I got the Derby rims and they have been absolutely awesome so far.

I really HATE your pile of bike parts. In this case, HATE means "like".

    Build Update

Made a little progress today but I'm still waiting on the wheels.

Started off on the right foot.

    Hate's Mach 6 Build-img_20140531_145607.jpg

    Bottom bracket installed.

    Hate's Mach 6 Build-img_20140531_170321.jpg

    Headset and fork.

    Hate's Mach 6 Build-img_20140531_170304.jpg

Then put nearly everything else on.

    Hate's Mach 6 Build-img_20140531_183501.jpg

    Hate's Mach 6 Build-img_20140531_183513.jpg

Wheels got delayed by a couple weeks so until then there's not a lot more to do.

Well, you'll have time to trim those lines in front and make them nice and tidy...also, are you running 1x10/11..? If you have a clutch rear derailleur and N/W chainring...you won't need that.

I won't need what? It's a full xx1 kit. I was waiting to trim the lines until I could throw a leg over the bike and get the bar height dialed in.

The chain device is a bit unnecessary if you are running a single chainring and a clutch rear mech. That said, the only penalty is weight and it will add a bit more security.

That's not a chain retention device. It's a taco style bash guard to protect the BB area from rocks/logs/etc...

I've got one on my XX1 M6 as well.

Nice looking ride, those are some wide looking bars! I've got 785mm Race Face, but those must be 800mm?
It's really fun and rewarding building up a rig like this, I feel that I have a better relationship with my bike since I built her from the ground up

    Build Update

I'm overdue for an update and my wheels came in today so here's what I've gotten done so far.

    Wheels on the bike!!

    With pedals and chain.

Bike is complete. Just needs some more adjustments. I'm going to trim down the fork after the first ride. I just want to make sure the bar position is comfortable.

I was looking forward to the extra modulation on the zee brakes. I hate the contact point though because it feels like I have to go through half the stroke before the brakes start engaging. I'm planning to do a bleed on the brakes because my internet research says it might help. We'll see.

Can you pull the pads out and compress the brake lever just enough to move the pistons out a bit, then put the pads back in? I am able to adjust mine XTR brakes that way.
