Finally, I own a green machine!

    Green of course.

Hoping to get a shakedown ride in tomorrow. I've wanted a bike this color since I was about 8 years old. Long story short. The town I grew up in had big wheel races for 7-8 year olds. 2 races each year, straight drag race, and an oval.

I've not won much athletically in my life. But I did rule the big wheel circuit in my town 32 years ago. As a 7 year old - dual first places. Won every heat, won every final.

As an 8 year old. Won every heat, won every race except my last final, the oval. Some kid showed up on this new fangled "green machine). Personally, I thought it should have been illegal as he had the only one and it was a clear steering advantage. I had somehow powered my squatty little body to win the straight away against this kid, but alas the oval course.

I took second in my final, sanctioned big wheel race. As an 8 year old, I was jealous beyond all belief and to this day wanted my own "green machine". Now I have one.

    2013 Mach 429 Carbon
2012 Talas Terralogic (with custom stickers..)
    XX1 with twist shifter
XO crank with XX1 spider and chainring (custom stickers)
    XTR brakes
Roval Trail SL 29er Carbon Hoops (these are an incredible bargain by the way IMO)
    Atac Carbon Pedals
Shimano PRO carbon seatpost and stem (also excellent lightweight bargains to be had at nashbar, unreal weight and price)
    syntace carbon bar
Also, I'll be using the specialized tires going forward - these set up tubeless SO much easier than anything I've ever used.
    WTB saddle.

Those grips make the bike. Now I want a green machine!

Turner had a green Burner that I always wanted but could never find.

I remember also being green with envy (pun absolutely intended) when the Green Machine came out and a neighborhood kid got one. Loved those fat slicks in the back.....

Your new green machine ALMOST makes up for that bitter defeat decades ago

I'm green with envy. I've lost count of how many bikes you have owned in the past two years.

I've admittingly gone through a few...

Evolve (horribly flexy rear end, sold after 3 rides)

El Rey (nice, but just didn't do it for me, did nothing wrong)

Tallboy (second one, enjoyed as usual)

2013 Scalpel (didn't like the single pivot rear, and the new lefty just wasn't doing it, though I've heard they were coming improperly tuned from the factory)

    Now the Pivot.

Based on todays shakedown ride - I dig this one a lot. But need to get some mileage in before making a final call.
