    FB at Whistler ?
Has anyone brought their firebird to whistler? If so did you do some upgrades to beef it up? I have a 12' xt/slx build, stock. I'm thinking i may have to replace the rp23. Any suggestions ?
    Thanks

It'll work just fine as is, the RP23 will handle the trails there with no problems. I personally run a DHXAir on mine but have ridden stock demos at Deer valley and it felt very good. I would consider some beefier tires, make sure the seatpost will drop low enough or the steep stuff. Here are a couple of videos I made on our trip back in '09. This is all with my Firebird, the 2010 stuff is with the Phoenix...

either way post up some pics of your trip!... when does Whistler usually open, anyway? i guess if you went now you'd have fit it with skis... which actually could be pretty cool now that i think about it...

2009? What did we do to you to leave such a long time between visits?

I was there in 2010 as well! Just haven't been able to swing another trip since then (I'm not independently wealthy:p)

Thanks for all the info. I guess Blackrock OR will have to do until Whistler opens. Considering getting the RP23 pushed.

Nothing wrong with Black Rock. The FB loves it.

As do I. Pretty much my favorite place to ride. Like a mini version of whistler, and alot closer. The fact that there is no shuttlein makes it a great match for the FB.

I've taken mine up 4-5 times now and it always works very well. I like having a 180 fork up front with a very low profile headset (3mm) so it doesn't rake the front out but you still get that plush travel for the never ending brake bumps. I had a Lyrik 170 on for one trip and it's just not the same as, say, a Float 180. I've also run it with a variety of shocks from the DHX_air to the RC4 and I personally like it best with the RC4 but it was fine with the air shocks as well out back.

I recently took my FB to whistler and not for one second did I think i Needed more shock or more bike. I ran 2.5 minions fornt and rear. 180 fox up front (Talas) and a Cane Creek angleset to slacken by 1.5 degrees. To me, The angleset and tires made all the difference.
