    Cracked Firebird frame

Has this little issue with the Firebird been resolved, I bought
the frame about a year and half ago, I sent the frame back to Pivot yesterday so I should get a replacement by next week.

Is that right where the new upgrade brace resides? I'm wondering if I should request one ...

    Cracked Firebird frame

Yep, the newer ones have a gusset that reinforces the frame. There is a retro-fit part that can be installed by pivot. Mine is a 2011 and has that gusset. Look at the second picture in this link and you can see it. CCDB Air and the Firebird. No-go.

Would you know if my dhx coil will fit with the upgraded gusset, if it doesn't I might go with the new FLOAT X

I do not know if it would fit. But from what I have read about some people running coil shocks, I'd guess that it will fit. But that's just that...a guess. There are a few coil FB guys around here, maybe someone with some experience can chime in.

I've got a DB coil on my '09 bird with the gusset fix, doesn't get in the way at all. And if I'm not mistaken, the spring on the DB has a larger diameter than on a Fox so you should be good to go once you get it back.

I know the demo guy, Josh, has a DHX coil on his FB, with the carbon rocker I believe. I was surprised to see it fit.

This has been resolved. You can get a free upgrade to your older models, call PIVOT or your dealer, they can help you.

The newer frames 2012 and 2013 all have a welded box section there to eliminate that from happening.

If you run a coil shock, you may need the alloy rocker, as the springs won't clear the carbon rocker.

I sent the Bike to Pivot on the 18th and it's still in the queue waiting to be looked at, does it usually take two week or longer to get the frame back from pivot.

I was hoping to do some riding this weekend.

Have you called your dealer, or called us? Depending on where you shipped from it can take up to 5 working days to get to us. We generally turn it around within 24 hours of receiving it.

Call and talk with Brien, Todd or Aaron, they should be able to tell you exactly what is happening with it. 480-467-2920

I called Pivot and they never received the Frame so then I called back the Bike shop, the Bike shop tracked the FedEx # and the tracking history only showed The FedEx driver picking up the frame, so now FedEx is doing a trace.

Thanks Daniel for posting the contact info.

    Update.
FedEx found the Box with the frame in it, they said it was hiding behind other boxes, probably hiding behind the Lost Ark.
So hopefully FedEx will deliver the frame to pivot by Monday if they don't reroute it to China.

    Re: Cracked Firebird frame

Freaking FedEx kills me. They delivered my last new frame to the vacant house across the street. I checked the address on the box, yep, my correct address. Somebody couldn't read. Didn't get home until the evening when it was starting to get dark. Was freaking out that somebody stole it off my porch. Then I luckily saw the shadow of the box across the street. Geez!

Dang! I'd make friends with a local business (bike shop, bakery, whatever) and have the important stuff delivered there. My own horror story; Ordered a Gibson 50th Anniversary Flying V. Kept checking delivery status so I'd be home to sign for it. No problem, they just left the big box with "Gibson" logos all over it right by the front door, in the middle of summer in Phoenix. Yet my wife has to sign for a $500 laptop??

Got the Frame back, Pivot mailed the frame back the same day they received it, they also upgraded the rear triangle to the newer 142mm x 12mm thru-axle

A big thanks to Pivot and my local Bike Shop "itsa bike shop" ITSA Bike Shop - In San Diego, It's The Smart Alternative!
