Another headset question:
I am running a 160 fork with the CC angle set set back 1 degree on my Firebird. Love the setup, but hate the problematic angle set. Rather that continue to beat my head against that wall, I'd like to order one of these:
1 0 Degree EC44 - EC44 - Angle Headset
Is this correct (i.e. is the internal diameter of the head tube 44mm upper and lower?), I have a 1 1/8 steerer.
Firebirds are 1.5(49mm) top and bottom.
I think you need this one:
NEW - 1 0 Degree ZS49 -EC49 - Tapered Steerer Tube Headset
I have the 1.5 degree works headset on on my Firebird and it is solid and quite. I have a 170 Lyric and get a hair over a 65.5 deg head angle.
Whoops missed the strait steerer part (they still make those )
1 0 Degree ZS49 - ZS49 - Traditional 1 5 Reducer Headset
Whats the issue with your CC angleset? Mine's been fine so far.
dd, you must have the magic touch. I have watched the videos (both of them), re lubed, reset and retightened, and still cant get rid of the thwack. The CC is cool if you cant decide, but once you have it dialed in, a dedicated angle makes the most sense.
The dreaded creak?
Lbs told me to use this stuff on the gimbals. I never developed the creak, i only have ~200 mi or so on the bike though. Does it come later or right away?
Give this stuff a shot:
