    429 rear shock upgrade?

I've got an older 1st generation Mach 429 with the Fox RP23 - anyone try one of the RS monarch shocks? How about fitting a coil shock - is that possible? I am looking for the absolute plushest ride possible.

I owned one of those frames. I now wish I never would have sold it! I don't know if a coil would fit (doubt it though). I recall the ride being very 'sports car,' so I'm not sure there's much you can do to soften the rear suspension. Initial thought was to simply lower the air pressure, but that would throw off everything else. Two better ideas I had would be to call PUSH and see what they might be able to do, and secondly, if you haven't already, throw replace the fork with a 120mm travel model. Did this to mine, and helped to make the ride abit more "trail" if that makes sense. Ultimately though, if you're looking for a plusher ride, you might need to think about a different frame. I don't think you'll ever accomplish "plushest ride" with a 429.

Adding needle bearings to the rear shock helped mine.

Coil Shocks on any of our Mach Series Alloy frames will not work. We don't recommend it, as the frames are only approved for us with an Air shock.
