    27.5+ on a 429Trail

Anybody try? If so, please give specs on wheels and tires and your opinions of it. My shop says they've done 27.5+ set-ups for a bunch of Trails and the riders love them. Might be fun to have a different wheelset to throw on now and again depending on the trail and to get a different ride.

Local shop in Phoenix did this, your mileage may vary:

The specialized roval fat rims with specialized purgatory on front and ground control on back, honestly the back is a little tight i see why they only recommend 2.8

Looks great, look forward to your riding impressions. Are your tires 3.0?

Does anyone have any definitive answers that the 429 Trail can comfortably fit a 40mm rim with a 3.0 tire? Was hoping to swap my Ibis 741/WTB Trail Boss 3.0 combo that I'm currently running on a Banshee Phantom during the winter months

40mm Nextie Rims and 2.8 Trailblazer. So far this bike has been everything that I have wanted in a mountain bike. It's plush enough for everything that I ride in Utah. I opted for a Talus in the front for a little added versatility and I wanted to go Dynamo Hub for the lights and USB. Rode it for the 25 hours of Frog Hollow and it felt great the whole time. Next stop is Stagecoach 400 and AZT Race 750.

Just brought in a 2.8 Nobby Nic mounted on a Nox Farlow rim - plenty of clearance in the rear. FWIW - the NN measured 2.7 on that rim. I'll be building up a frame with Nox Kitsuma wheels in the next few weeks.

Anyone here have a chance to ride it as both a 29 and as a 27+? Do you stay 27+ all the time or swap for different terrain?

How does it roll compared to the 29 inch wheels? Have you tried both?

27+ tires are significantly heavier and have a smaller diameter...along with not being as wide as claimed in many cases.
