We are currently shooting a short documentary and 2 promo/educational shorts for the Sierra Buttes Trail Stewardship and need some volunteer help shooting some footage during the upcoming Downieville Classic. Help support the Stewardship and all of the great work that they do -including building amazing trails and putting on legendary events like the Classic- by volunteering some time while you are racing/spectating/enjoying the race next weekend!
If you have any experience shooting video and have your own equipment we could really use your help, and your unique perspective on the race, the scene, and the landscape. You don't need to be a pro, but you do need to have some knowledge of how to properly shoot quality video (correct white balance, exposures, formats, etc). You don't even need to be a videographer as still photographers are welcome if they want to dabble in some video. We must have at least 1080p HD footage to be used in this project, but any type of camera that can capture 1080 HD footage is great, including POV camera footage (GoPro, Contour, etc).
We are looking for people that will capture the scene from any and all aspects, whether watching racers on course, at the finish/start, at the river jump, among the crowd in town, etc, as well as anyone that is planning on riding the race with a POV set-up. We want footage that shows the diversity, the passion, the organization, the culture, the excitement, the fun, and the absurd to name a few.
Volunteers won't need to spend all day filming, we just ask that you shoot when you have time, when you see something worth filming, and are willing to come and spend some time downloading your footage to our hard drives at the end of the day. You'll get credits in the final documentary as well as updates on when we'll premier it (hopefully at the 2014 Wild and Scenic Film Fest in Nevada City in January), and we are working on a bit of swag to add to the pot as well!
If you would like to volunteer, drop me a line at: firstname.lastname@example.org, pm me here on MTBR, or if you are already volunteering for the event with SBTS, let Debbie know at: email@example.com
Here's a bit of raw, un-edited b-roll from one of our shoots in May for a little taste:
Looking forward to seeing you there!
