    Sony Handycam DCR-SR58

Is it a really bad idea to mount this cam on my MTB? it has been sitting around for a few years, my wife used it for a few days and shelved it. The most obvious problem would be is that the LCD screen has to be open. Seems that would snap off like a frozen pecker when subjected to off road riding? I have a Sony handycam bar mount.Thanks.

I don't see anything wrong with doing that. It's just that it'll be bulky and heavy in comparison to those new fangled action cams! Things have come a long way. Heck I remember back when one of my riding buddies duct taped a Sony 8mm camcorder to his helmet!
Only advantage I see for running that camcorder is it prob has optical IS. Optical zoom too, but I don't invision you using that while riding. Oh, and its free to you now.
