    Photo Assignment: Norcal Fall

Ok, let's get out there and capture the fall colors and how it feels. We're not east coast so we have to look a little harder but the rewards are there for those who seek it out.

You can post photos from previous years but please mention that. The object is to get out there.

We don't have prizes yet but with the bad economy, I'm thinking of rides with celebrities:
    - drinks with baycat, intervals with menso, huckin with beaverbiker, long ride with jms, etc...

Your actively working on keeping me off my bike this weekend with prizes like those!

I mean I might have to hike up in the hills with my camera instead of ride up into them with just my phone to take pictures

Hmmm, I won't ask what route you took to get to the Wrights Station bridge.

Here I am trekking through some UCSC singletrack. Fall colors slightly muted by the sun.

    "long rides with jms"
From someone who has done dat, it is punishment, not a prize....

Last fall, well, winter, by a day; things go slow here in SLO town, including the seasons.
All the oaks have dropped their leaves; this is less than a mile from downtown, perimeter loop, Cerro San Luis.

Ha, I was going to pick "long ride with jms"! :-)

A Coe 110º Hell Ride with Plymmer should be added to the list of prizes.

Hey, is anyone thinking of entering the Mid-Pen photo contest?

About those "Long Rides With JMS"

About those "long rides w/JMS", I'm looking to do one of those next Sunday @ some of my old haunts in the Santa Cruz Mtns, if anybody is interested........it'll be fun.........really. Oh Yeah! I've just had an epiphany [No Tahoe BC it's not one of those 2 wheeled disasters you're riding], this route's gonna have everything: technical singletrack, fireroad climbs, a sketchy descent, maybe a little bushwacking, an opportunity to be menaced by some local "color", and beer available at the end.
Here's my recycled photo from @ here, above Dairy Cr. last year.

Yes, Summer and Winters suck here but Fall is great! Full moon night rides with no lights are sweet. You have to find the silver lining when the trail is right outside your doorstep

    Hey , That looks good!
For us out here on the central cali coast the trails are pretty groomed for the most part.
    Under the redwoods/madrones/oaks.
We have to go up to the Sierra Nevada's to get that kind of rock your riding.
    Tahoe area.

Here's a few from a ride I did this morning up at Saratoga Gap. I really loved the bush with the red leaves. We get so little fall color around here, I just had to pick some and bring them home

    Oh.....cable....

I think I may have spoke too soon! I have a Sunday ride in store and it is guided by JMS!
could be a torture fest! Most likely will be a (2) PBJ sandwich ride.Bet we see some rock in there too!

John, I will be picking up Captain Kana and will meet you at nine Sunday AM in that quaint little town up north. Just a two pack here........

while you play, some of us slaved away

Fall on the real central coast (200mi to LA, 200mi to SF). We are facing the horrific situation of getting our rideable trails increased by 65-120%, depending on whether you are talking about city, county, or state property. What a bunch of losers are we; poor riders, lookin' for a break.

1 - crappy day start ~ 745 am commute; what a drudge to get to work.
2 - depressed co-workers facing a filthy job (what a bunch of clods)
    3 - stoned at work
4 - headed home, land owner guarding six miles of disgusting single track, (we poached it)

Fall is also the season when the fog and marine layer displays in the Bay Area are arguably at their most interesting. These are from a "before work" ride we did last Wednesday morning at Fremont Older Open Space.
