Thanks. Steel wool in a whisk on a chain rope. Lots of fun but sketchy.

It's pretty hard to capture the Milky Way in the metro Phx area, but here is my best attempt taken at the 7-29-2013 night ride at McDowell Mountain Regional Park. Bikers behind me on the pump track provided foreground lighting over this 10 sec ISO 1000 exposure with a Canon 5D3 and Rokinon 14mm (f stop somewhere around 4).

Indeed.. When I zoomed it, they were not meteors and they were not plane. Must have been satellites! Good eye!

Somehow this thread has flown under my (very low quality) radar for years now.

A few of mine from the past few months...

    Blustery night, Grand Mesa, CO:

And then it started nuking, near Shell Lake, AK:

Searching for trail in the Alaska Range:

    Postholing near Puntilla Lake:

    Very faint aurora near Unalakleet:

Elim, AK--a sight for sore eyes after sunset:

Aurora over Kwiniuk, as seen from Walla Walla:

Juniper and Milky Way as seen from Hartman Rocks near Gunnison, CO:

    Independence Day celebration, Gunnison, CO:

Nigh scene from deep within Bear Creek drainage, San Juan mountains, CO:

    Cheers,

    MC

Nice pics. I can't stand those Critical Mass gatherings. They are always downtown on a Friday and Saturday night. Drunk people and excess traffic don't get along.

Mountain biking the tallest peak in colorado. Mt. Elbert Campout.

Night Photography - Post your shots!-_mg_6990.jpg

This was my nap spot before the big ascent up Mt. Elbert. I arrived at 12am and had to wake up at 330am which is why it was a nap spot. wish I had time for more night photos but I needed rest.
