    Assignment: Norcal Fall Photos

The timing is right and the colors are coming to a theater near you.

State the location and date of your photos.

They have to be Norcal and they have to be after today's date.

DUDE. I can't believe you are totally hi-jacking my Norcal Fall Photo Contest which lives on page 4, has already see 270 views and 4 posts (including mine and 2 from Jfritz who entered a photo but quickly retracted after getting hazed for using photoshop). That just stings.

OT: Demo was so awesome this weekend...still drooling.

I'll buy you a Pliny. You just need to show me some nice Fall trails.

    Photo Contest Fall/Winter 2010 anyone?
After the wildly popular Summer Video contest (Summer 2010 Bike Video Contest anyone?, I do believe a photo contest is in order! Winners have a chance to be on the cover of Bike Magazine! (Probably a very slim chance as I have no connections what-so-ever other than being published once in their Letter's to Editor section...you really never know though).

    So, here's how it works:

Submit your original photo in this post sometime on or before November 31st. After November 31st submission entries will end and MTBR members (such as you) will vote for their top three pics and enter their choices in this post. On December 15th midnight voting ends and votes will be counted and tallied. Winners will be announced December 16th.

-New photos only (honor system)...not something you made a few weeks/months/years back. (Although I have no problem with anyone posting old shots...however, this contest is about new/original).
-No slamming or disrespecting photo entries.
    -Bike-related photos only.
    -What did I miss?

Now, get out your trusty photo making machine, get your crew out on the dusty trails, find that perfect spot with the right lighting, and make some magic!

Here's a starter from last Friday.

This is right off Skyline Blvd, entering the Long Ridge trails of Saratoga Gap.

    Saturday 11/6 in Fairfax

There are no seasons in NorCal. It just goes from sunny to cloudy, and somewhere in between.

I saw plenty of leaves on the witness protection program trails. Nice shots and beautiful model.

Here's a couple. I can't seem to get in a good location at the right time of day. Maybe this weekend.

    1. front of my house
    2. Up highway 9 at 20mph. Btw. Highway 9 is wide open now with no road construction stoplight.

In an evergreen forest we don't get spectacular displays of colored foliage, so a "fall" photo is more about the low light and the green shoots breaking through the summer's thatch.

    Lake Lagunitas, yesterday.

CK was right about it not being too Fall-like in Marin. Last weekend on Shafter fireroad it looked positively green:

At least on the road itself there were a lot of leaves that had fallen, so it looked a little more like Fall:

At the turn of a corner I spied some pumpkin orange:

Still really green at the top of Shafter:

At the top, going down Bolinas Ridge, it had that look CK spoke of..the low lighting, the green shooting through the brown thatch:

I was last in the conga' line when my buddy stopped and told me he almost hit it. Every time I had him/her in focus, it would move. You don't normally see them in the afternoon.
    Gotta' love fall.
