Smile Hans Rey riding rice terraces in Philippines!

I've been on some spectacular rides in Utah/Nevada (Porcupine Rim, White Rim, Moab, Gooseberry, Bootleg, etc). I've also ridden some pretty cool trails in the Philippines, but photos of Hans Rey latest adventure as mtb ambassador/self-promoter (he's currently attending a fattire festival and putting on demos on the islands) blew me away. I gotta ride these rice terraces on my next visit. Hmmm... I better improve my track stands and overall balance or I'll be swimming in rice instead of eating it.

    more here...

My ride was pretty cool too, although not quite as spectacular.

I'm sure Hans didn't find a natural jacuzzi in the middle of his ride.

Hope they don't fertilize like Koreans

Looks like a great ride but I would be careful not to step into the rice. In korea you knew every time you passed a rice field because it smelt like human tootsie rolls. Can't imagine riding around that stench all day.

Man, if there is one guy who I would like to ride with for like a month just to soak up his knowledge like a sponge, it would be Hans.

Bugger! I grew up in the Philippines and I haven't even seen half those places he visited.

I want some prints of those photos. Brilliant!

    Hans Rey in the Philippines

    Bundokrider,

Marcotonioli's website shows some pictures of Hans and some riders beside a Defender
110...i rode with these 2 riders when i was home a year ago, Anthony was beside Hans and Tony on top the SUV. Co-owners of Sabak bike shop at Santa Rosa, Laguna. They are good riders and friendly. I'm going home again this December-January and hope to ride with Anthony's group again. Give my regards to Ricky, Tom, Mike and the rest of the group.

Spectacular photos, but you missed the one that shows what a horrible driver Hans is. I hope no bikes were harmed.

If he was in that car he seems to be unscathed. The front wheel of the bike didn't do so well, looks a bit bent to me. Hmmm makes me wonder if he was driving... pretty gutsy of him, the traffic and driving patterns are pretty crazy there and takes getting used to. I guess he's wasn't familiar with the proper method of driving with 4 lanes of traffic on a 2 lane road
