    is the Wiss ridable?

Anybody know? Rode last Friday morning and it was perfect. Want to get a ride in Tuesday morning but wonder how bad the trails are.

parts of it are for sure...

you'll probably walk some hills but i'd say it is worth a shot!

I can't believe you guys were out in all that snow yesterday, riding!!! I live near Reading and I was shoveling for about 5 1/2 hours! I couldn't imagine riding in it! I guess I will try to ride on Saturday with all my friends in over 2 feet of snow! Maybe we will try to go to French Creek!
    Have fun in the snow!!!!!!

That video was taken before storm #2. Just went down to the Valley Green to check things out and the place is a mess. Downed wires and stuff. Roads were not too bad but the trails seemed hard to find!

I picked up a Monocog 29er 3 weeks ago on ebay and been itchin to ride it so I figured I would attempt Wissahickon early this morning while it was still frozen. Well not worth the effort because the paths are barely ridable. The part that is ridable (forbidden Dr.) is single lane and every 200 yds you need to dismount for hikers and dogs... The constant 3-5" deep boot prints make the ride really suck, especially on a ridgid.

To all that were considering a ride... don't waste your time until this stuff melts.

Got out for 2 hours this afternoon and I will clearify the conditions:

Upper trails remarkably dry -- in typical spring shape (lots of stick branches, bricks...)

My 1st ride on the rigid Cog29 and was pleasantly surprised how well it handled a few bad lines due to spring rust where I took head-on a few 6" boulders.... I was quite impressed!

Lower trails -- still too many mud holes to allow for good riding, but acceptable conditions with some spots that needed to be walked around.

Forbidden Drive -- Very wet in many spots, puddles about every 100yds -- Pain in neck to ride unless you like to splash the joggers, then could be super fun!

Felt great to be out.... conditions will be almost perfect by the weekend.
    26FS & 29Rigid... best of both worlds

Perfect dirt in the wiss today. Unfortunately all of the people who only exercise one day per year picked today to come out.
