Visiting Pittsburgh, wish I had time to ride!

So my son is moving to Pittsburgh from Las Vegas I drove out with him to help set up his apartment. He is right by Settlers Park and man I want to go for a ride! I wish I was staying longer so I could rent a bike and try a few trails out here. It looks SO different from Bootleg Canyon where I live. I've never got to ride in trees and real dirt. We just have sand and rocks. Lots of rocks! Anyway, just want to say I'm jealous, and will make sure I have time to ride next time I come back.

Not much going on a Settlers, but Bavington is just a short drive from there. Next time bring the bike!

Is your son going to school here?

No, he got a job with PNC Bank. Most definitely will have a bike next time I'm here! I'll make sure to hit up you locals for the best ride spots.

Yea, Bavington is just down 22/30E from there, good riding, can make it an all-day thing no problem. Some new trails close by at the Hollow Oak land trust, too. Head up north for Brady's Run, head downtown to hit Frick, and just north of the city is North Park, with Moraine north of that.

Then there's still Deer Lakes, Boyce, Apollo, Hartwood Aces, South Park....and this is just what's all within an hour's drive or less of the city.

    We're kinda spoiled out here.
Oh noes. I'm going to drink the Kool-Aid.

and within 2-2 1/2 hrs drive you can experience the tombstones of Rothrock & Bald Eagle, the pump tracky/bike parky Allegrippis...might as well hit Yellowcreek or Forbes while you're at it. Both of those are 1:15 from downtown

Speaking of indoor bike parks, I know there was one in development (within the last year or two) in Pittsburgh. How is it coming? Did they get up and running? Was it in Homestead? [can you tell I'm a little fuzzy about it]

It is open and they're still expanding, building out more rooms. It's in Homewood, right near East Liberty. Its a pretty cool place and any time I've gone (even during the week) they seem to be getting a good amount of people in.

Check out more: The Wheel Mill

No need to wait till we thaw out! We ride all year long! There aren't too many things better than a full moon, 22 degrees and 2" of fresh snow on frozen ground! Truly amazing fun!

Tried out the New Fatty yesterday in the Fresh Johnstown Powder....For the first time since High School....when I'd pray for a snow day to sleep in....I'm looking forward to winter.
