Who: Whoever wants to show up with a bike, helmet, and a light
What: Ride bikes on trails
Where: Start at Valley Cycles in Plains to Kirby Park
When: Every Thursday Night
Why: Food + Ride = Good time
Thursday night is getting off the roads and into the trails for the fall. We’ll be leaving from the shop, and taking the levee to the very smooth and fun Kirby Park Trails. The trails are a lot of pedaling without too much technical. A good workout for more advanced riders, while still being a great spot for beginners. As always we will return to the shop and head over to the River Street Jazz Cafe for the post ride fun.
Looks like we're gonna have to cancel for tonight. All day all night rain put a "damper" on the trails down there! Pun intended... Check our FB page for next week. Looks to be dry...
Some of us will prob just hit up the Moon around 6:30
The weather finally held out for our ride.
It was a great time riding the trails and motocross track by the river, the singletrack was tight and twisty.
And you can't beat the FREE Pasta Buffet after the ride with homemade bread and Salad, and there's usually a band playing at the River street Jazz Cafe, good times, join us for a ride.
A big bonus they usually open the shop after the ride, so if you broke something or need a part you can get it.

Spent more time than I want to admit (5 hours) working on the Nesbit Park singletrack.
Weed wacked the trail
Leaf blown
Cut big head level trees
Cut face slappers
Logged and dirt ramped that big tree crossing
Dirt ramped that other big tree in the turn
Cut out the tree overhand in the big dip, filled it in with dirt, and cleaned out the upside.
Orange marker paint on the remaining low trees and other trees

Thanks Chuck! Amy and I spent some time at the Moon today cleaning up some blow downs and flipping rocks here and there. I'd like to get down and cut some trail by the Hondas to keep us of the the moto trail and generally higher up to keep us out of the mud. Do like a perimeter trail then we can use the moto where it's dry to give is other loop options.
Forgot to say I put in a short new section also, in the begining instead of ducking under that tree, we go right just before the downhill, runs next to the river, over a double root crossing, then swoops back to the left, crossing the main trail go straight up the hill, quick right around a tree, down a short hill, and a off camber right turn, couple flowy turns then a left back out on the main trail.
There's another whole loop we can open up (allready there) off to the left of the one we have been running, might take a little work, better if at least two people are there, I never felt comfortable over there all day, allways looking over my shoulder.
Found the reason the trails are as open as they are, Wilkes cross country runners use it to practice on.

Oh bearded one!
Opposite side of the Market street bridge from Kirby park is Nesbitt park
Go through the park towards Pierce street bridge, after you go under the bridge straight ahead is the woods, the entrance to the trails is the path on the right.
Not very long but fun, I cleared the trail all the way down to the train bridge.
I'll also ride this trail in the Winter when the snow flies it's a blast and close.

Thanks, Chuck!!! Never knew that was there...I will have to check it out. Today, Brandon and I are heading up to da Moon!!!
Couldn't sleep this morning, so I put in a whole new section of trail.
It looks like a mini motocross track but no jumps! Plenty of fast quick turns, even a couple high banked turns.
Hope it survives the rain.
I ran it in a bunch of times today, it is an absolute blast!

That is awesome! Won't be riding it this week unfortunately, but can't wait to rock it!
Tom and myself cleaned the trails today after the storm, couple BIG trees down and one re-route, we even opened up a new section, the trail now starts right at the bridge on the right.
