riding around today, wishing I had a pair of xc skis

Trail 15 buried under a couple of feet. real men would have ridden it anyway

riding around the Mt. Gretna campmeeting

15 foot icicles on the back of the roller rink

Susie will be just fine when she thaws out

No pics but I XC skied at Nolde Forest in Berks today with tduro. About half the trails were cut in with tracks already, which made the going a little easier. We have over 3 feet and will be off the bikes and skiing for some time to come.

Great to be out in what feels like a whole different environment. It's great to live in an area where we get all the seasons. Some years more than others!

I got out there today. The trails were just on the wrong side of possible. I bit the more tree covered stuff that was relatively flat would have been pretty good. I got to slow down and take pictures. Here's a google map of the pictures that might work, just trying it out.

Just enough snow to have the bike stand up.

    Hey it's me!

I did a lot of this.

That must be the world shortest stop sign because there can't be that much snow.

... and if we just ...

    Chriffer:

    NICE BIKE, NICE PICS!

Yes, due to Luzerne county budget cuts, all stops signs were shortened!

Next we will be taxed for all the snow on our properties!

Wow, too many people having fun!!! I have to get my middle-aged arse out there and do some serious pedaling. Wish I had some XC skis as Jeff's pics make that look like WAY TOO MUCH FUN!!! I heard it is an incredible workout! If I do start XC skiing, I will have to make sure I wear clean sweat pants in case I have a heart attack!!! ROFLMAO!!!
Waging war on my pedals every chance I get!!!

here's 2 from up your way above the mission in white haven. pics aren't that great....its hard to make a dcision to pull the camera out when you're dropping knees.

some nice angles up there. most of it was point and shoot...not enough snow for steep ****, but if you guys cleaned the lines a little more, it could be better than elk.

Wyatt - did you ride Geisinger or were you on foot? I was thinking about attempting a night ride/push there tomorrow. I think a lot of the trails are beaten down enough to make it doable.

I'm taking the bike this afternoon, I'll let you know? I really think you could get a 50/50
ride/push thing going there right now. Yesterday I was on foot, it was really pretty
    up on top!

conditions have gone to crap. I guess the extra inch or so coupled with the warm sun have made a mushy unrideable mess.

if your get a snow blower and make a path in your yard you can have so much fun riding around in the back yard. its fun to slide around the turns and the lack of traction.

some of the best snow i skied all year. an additional 3 inches by the time i got back to the truck. the frozen ice bridges made the fords rather easy.

Kevin- what kind of skis do you run? I'm in the market for some decent backcountry skis and don't know where to start. Any resource suggestions would really help. Thanks.

Suffering from cabin fever, I decided to check out Geisinger tonight, knowing that with temperatures around 35 degrees, the mash potato conditions would be poor at best. I wasn't disappointed. The uphill jeep road has been driven by truck and is generally ridable, though the ruts are deep and narrow so your feet hit the sides with every pedal stroke. I tried Fun City, but soon turned around, flat was difficult, slight inclines were impossible. Finished down the yellow trail which was actually fun, though still requiring a lot of pedaling down hill. If it were a sustained 20-25 degrees, the trails would be fine, but right now they're just kind of a mess.
