trail report - Roaring Creek - Big Mtn Trail

Rode from Natalie to Aristes today, ran into some cool people, hit a bunch of fun trail, cleared some dead fall, broke a saw, punctured my rear tire four times, it was a great mountain biking day.

Big Mtn from W to E was in great shape, some minor standing water here and there but nothing really soft and squishy.

More snow waiting to melt, sometimes it was an issue, but mostly it just slowed a rider down a bit.

I don't know if spring has really sprung, but it sure felt like it.

Almost got out there yesterday but headed to Locust Lake Firetower trails instead. I might hit up Big Mtn on Monday after work, hopefully no snow hahah.

Awesome. Almost went there, but was short on time. Rode Geisinger instead. Was the best 50 minutes of my life since November (maybe a slight exaggeration).

Geisinger was a little squishy in spots-between that and the leaves/pine needles, just enough to slow you down a little. With temps in the 50s and blue skies I was super stoked! Trails have obviously been look-after. No deadfall on any of the trails I hit. Thank you, trail fairies!
You better just go ahead and drop that seatpost down to the reflector... the trail gets pretty rough down there.

Re: trail report - Roaring Creek - Big Mtn Trail

Assuming weather patterns hold, I need to figure out where the 'big' ride is going to be next weekend.

Anywhere within 2 hours of home is fair game.

Still soggy today but had a good ride, still recovering from a leg injury unfortunately. Pulled into the parking off Rt 54 and lucked out when I seen Shawn getting geared up to head out. He was just waiting for another rider so I ended up going out with them and learning a lot of new single track up there I didn't even know was there hahah. Very successful day!
