    Trail conditions

Anybody out riding yet? What are the trail conditions at Merli, LSP and prompton dam? I also plan on hitting up the moon as well.

    Trail conditions

I don't know about any of the places you listed. I know that Moosic Mountain is clear of snow, but the ground is still pretty soft. It is like pedaling through mashed potatoes...just sucks the power right out of you! As of a few days ago, there was still alot of snow when you got higher up in the elevations, too!

    Good job!

    Randy:

I can't speak for LSP or Merli, haven't been there since November, but Moon is great and Moosic is also getting there!

Let me know if you would like a guide at Moon some day when you visit!

Everything else here is good, and you?

Everything is going pretty good. Moved up to lake ariel in november. I bet LSP is soaked right now. Merli is probably damp with the typical wet spots. I will let you know when I am headed to the moon. I saw a video on youtube and it looks fun!!

Rode Mt Top Tues and Thurs. Other than a few isolated areas, trails are firm.

I've hit a couple places - some Plymouth Mtn area stuff, Slocum, mixed elsewhere. Seems like the singletrack is mostly good with spotty mud bogs but you really need to watch out on the doubletrack.

Nice to hear about Mtn Top J. Want to hit that some afternoon/evening after work next week?

    Randy:

Lake Ariel is a nice area. I guess that makes Prompton your home trails now.

Actually Moosic is closer than prompton. Also, I own 9 acres now and Fahn is supposed to come up and design a small trail system up here. I heard he is building up a bike and may put 650bs on it. Told him he is flirting with the dark side of the force. If he could be turned, he will become a powerful ally.

The official word from the guard yesterday is that the park is closed.

Right. That's what I heard. I also read post's about people being told to leave the property. So what's the deal?

Rode LSP today. There were alot of riders out there today. Trail conditions are muddy in spots, especially low lying areas. Didn't notice any snow. Weird thing is, I still have snow in my yard. Trails need maintenance because there is alot of trees down. Big flow killers. I have pics, will post later.

    Ok, here are the pics.

This is on lakeshore trail on the higher point.

This is on ranger trail. Actually, if the tree didn't take down that nearby sapling, it would be doable to ride over.

There were a few more downed trees. One I believe on abington trail near that field section at the top. One on turkey hill. Also one heading on the way to lakeshore near the intersection of A.T.T trail and lakeshore trail.

    Just a few bike shots.

On another note, what is the deal with moon lake then? Are people riding it even if the park is closed or what? Lee, have any insight? Let me know. Thanks.

Last I heard was the the guards were told to boot people by someone who doesn't have the authority to do so. When it was pointed out to some council members that ML is covered by the same insurance, etc., as other county properties (such as the levee area in Kingston) that they basically went "oops." Rumor was that the council was supposed to put out some kind of memorandum to the effect that while the park facilities are closed the trails are open for use.

But that was like a month ago, so who knows. I haven't heard anything official yet (as in, in the news).

Is there anyone official we can ask? I'd love to get back up for a ride, but that's a long drive if there is a chance of getting booted upon arrival....(Moon Lake)
