Nylon cords across the trail and nails in trees? He should have been sentenced to life in prison for attempted murder. 30 days? That's not justice.

We have vacationed in Grants Pass and if my wife and daughters had their way we would live there. Sweet place even with the one a-hole

Doesn't anyone else see the joke in this 30 day sentence?

I guess the next time I'm pissed at someone I'll take them mountain biking and string a rope at neck height across the trail. I could do thirty days.

He will have likely lost his license to practice psychiatry, too. unless he was nearly retired, he'll have lost his way of making a living, not to mention spent tens of thousands defending himself. There's probably restitution involved as well. While 30 days is light, he's pretty much sht his bed for the next 3-7 years. Maybe he can get a job as a greeter at walmart, if he's lucky.

Re: Trail booby trapper gets 30 days jail time

Dude probably won't pay a whole lot since he plead guilty. He frequented trails that, for the love of god, were not pleasant to hike up in the slightest. Bit of a death wish and out of the way in some instances.

I know the trails he targeted and the guys I rode out there with went first as a precaution; considering I'm not from around there. Feels weird knowing how close I was in proximity to that guy on numerous occasions.

FWIW, I'd still be cautious on those trails if you know them.

Other people have apparently had run ins with trail sabotuers/this guy out there but nothing was done by law enforcement in the past. Maybe a few fist fights among older people.

Having followed these rumors for more than a year, and then injuries actually happen, I'm glad they got this one.

Kinda weird having seen some of these dismantled traps trailside. I thought it was a joke at first.
