Nothing white falling up here yet, and it's been weeks since I got out to Moon.

And Months since I got out to Lackawanna SP.

    And I've never explored Prompton.

    Other ideas?

We got 3+ inches overnight here. Another snow ride at Roaring Creek is not what I had in mind. I would do Prompton or Merli if there's little to no snow there, but it's 1hr 30m drive, so conditions need to be good. I guess moon lake or moosic mountain are other options. There's really no snow in Wilkes-Barre?

My in-laws live very close to Prompton, so I can check on snow conditions with them later today.

They have five inches so far at Roaring Creek. An hour & a half is a little far, I'd do the forbidden mOOn if it's ridable. Let's see if wyatt, naner, tateb, etc. chime in. This is a great big can of suck.

I can see some whiteness on the hills but not much, could be leftovers from the week but I just can't recall. Zilch in the valley. Currently zero. No traces on the cars parked in front of my apt.

The word on Prompton - no snow last night, but it's possible that trails will have an inch or so of icy, crunchy garbage that never melted. Moon Lake might be best option tomorrow

I'm cool with whatever. Moosic Mtn is a fun place too, way more wind exposed though.

I'm flexi - you two "call the ball" - where/when - see you then.

Wish I had boingy bike for it, but alas not far enough through the rebuild yet.

Which reminds me, I need to get off my butt and go work on that thing.

This is from right outside Aristes this morning, I'd say that's out....... I imagine Natalie is probably worse. MoonLake tomorrow works for me.

Can anyone closer to the mOOn report on conditions? It looks like we got four inches or so here.

    Mountain Top....

....has about 1 to 1.5 inches of fresh powder on the ground....just above my house it is layered on about .25 inch base....there are plenty of frozen waterfalls and frozen spots also....Going skiing at Sno Mtn tomorrow.
There are two paths you can go by but in the long run........

I see grass still here 4 miles away from Moon Lake. Certainly less than an inch and not enough to even care about. Everything is so clear right now I'd ride the roads to the park No need to worry about snow plows or anything.

We've got about 18 inches near Pittsburgh, so stay on the eastern side of the state

Love Moosic Mt, and haven't been there in about 8 months. It's 1h20m for the Danville crew. I'd be happy with it or moon lake, you guys decide. For me the earlier the better.

Let me know what you guys plan to do. I may be in depending on the time. Looks like it could be the last chance for a somewhat snow-free ride for a few weeks. We're supposed to get hit again mid-week, and it could be further north.

    I contest that.

The last time we rode together I tried to get you to bike on a frozen stream, fall in, and die of hypothermia.

i'm so surprisingly pooped. good times guys.

i'm glad Jonz was able to Rescue the Ride. Frustrating start to the day, but I think the ride ended well.

Surprising how tacky the trail was.

    Great ride!

Sketchy start - arrived at the trailhead only to realize that the shock pivot through-bolt had sheared off during my last ride, A 3/8" hex bolt and lock nut from Lowes salvages the ride. Thinking that I may keep this setup for a while as there is absolutely no slop in my suspension and it was a $ 3 solution

LIke I said, other than maybe cutting the bolt down to a more precise fit-size, and chamfering it's edges to prevent catching on your legs, I'd stick with it.

Jonz - Glad you could get fixed and salvage the ride.
Naner - you held up well for not riding much this winter. Glad you could get your chain fixed. Too bad about the spill at the end - hope you're no too sore.
Bear - I have yet to participate in a ride with you that is less than five hours. Keep up the good work.
Wyatt - Can't believe you sacked up and rode (fell) on the frozen lake. Your mom never showed up for the super bowl.

Tons & tons of great images:

Next time we're there, FYI, we're bombing down NFS and coming up 5858. I just didn't have it in me yesterday and based upon how tired I was when I got home I am glad I didn't try, but it'll happen next time.

    :P

Next up: Geisinger. Millerfest. Assuming SNOW permits.

Sounds good to me. I've only ever been partly down NFS and I don't think I've ever been on 5858. Man I can't wait til the weather breaks and we can start hitting Rattling Creek, Raystown and all those places plus all the gravity stuff we're gonna do. We are gonna have soooooo much fun.

My rear tire wasn't holding air btw. Totally flat this morning, even with the valve closed lol.

NFS is one groovy fun ride going down, I need to scout the low stuff by the flume though as it can get soggy.

5858 is a fair bit of work no matter what bike you're on, it is low speed bump climbing, some short steeps, but works back up around more gradually than NFS. Climbing 5858 is only Marginally Stupid or Excessive, whereas climbing NFS is best left for the Professionally Insane like Chriffer. :^)

I'm also WAAAY looking forward to sampling other stuff. Rattling keeps coming up and getting weathered out. I'm also looking forward to a somewhat regular sequence of hitting pay-2-play locations, if you get my drift.
