Special Thanks to Chuck Kovach...gets Moon Lake re-opened!

I'm sure most have seen the article in the Times-Leader by now, and although I'm not active at ML, I want to say Thank You to Chuck for going the distance to get the park re-opened. We have been in contact with each other over the Winter and he stopped by the shop here on Saturday and told me that this was coming down, and it's nice to see it happen!

Chuck has been at the courthouse, dealing with that mess, been involved with the Sierra Club and has done most of the legwork and behind the scene stuff that most people don't see or want to get involved with, but unfortunatly needs to be done to make progress.

The park does not have full services, no pool, camping....yet...but it's a step in the right direction.

    Congratulations and Good Luck guys!!

    Good job!

Of course a big THANK YOU goes out to Chuck! I'm not big on man hugs but a pat on the back and a good solid hand shake should do. This is great news. I had never had the chance to ride the moon and was hoping to do so this season. Unfortunately the park closed before the season even started for me. So thanks to Chuck for giving me the ability to ride the moon.

lol....When Chuck called me this morning and asked for me to post this up, he was like a kid under the Christmas Tree..and for a guy who hardly rides as he works 15 hour days he accomplished a helluva lot.

“We’re trying to find someone to go in and manage the park at no cost to the county, but nobody is interested at this time,” Petrilla said.

    imagine that.

"no cost to the county" doesn't mean "not for profit" - they're open to someone making a profit on the operation, they just won't support it with county funds.

I'm happy to officially and publicly have the park "back" - and don't all bikers and hikers just pee in the woods anyway?

#1 and #2 are not a problem in the woods. Just make sure to bury the poop. I don't feel the need to walk or ride through some elses dung.

4 Paws up to Chuck from Buddy! It is definitely good news. We appreciate that Chuck cares for us and the park - it will benefit not only the bikers, but the fishermen, hikers, and others. Thanks again Chuck

A big thank you to Chuck. I remember reading all summer last summer when i really started getting into mountain biking about moon lake and the riding there. Well I sold my old bike and bought a Perp and wanted to ride moon lake only to find out it was closed down. Well now that its reopened Im again happy even though i dont have the perp yet. Ive been riding in danville however once i have the perp in my possession I will now defiantly hit up moon lake

Hmmm, wedding anniversary tomorrow, but also Wed. night Moon Lake ride. . . . . . . .
I guess I'll have to miss the ride, but if my wife ever finds out how tough a decision this was I'm in trouble.
