At First Trax Ski/Bike shop in Montgomery Vermont.
Friday: We woke up to plenty of new snow...wind was howling(blowin' a steady 20 to 25 with gust to 50!!) ...and temps around 12....we knew it would be questionable for most of the lifts operating. The Metro lift was the lift we used throughout the day as none that accessed higher terrain opened. In the woods the snow was between 2 and 3 feet deep depending on location. There were some areas of drifting in the 4 foot range! Jay has some pretty hardcore skiers who stayed out all day....and hundreds climbed up the slopes to get more freshies. Enjoyed the day even though there was limited lifts open. After skiing we travelled to Montgomery Center to visit FIrst Trax Ski and Bike shop. The shop had a 2008 Santa Cruz Superlight out front on the porch parked along side the demo ski sale equipment. The shop was heavy on the all mountain skis as well as plenty of tele/bc equipment. The owner of the shop said there is some pretty sweet riding in the area on the back side of Jay. Sounds like a summer trip to me. We ended up purchasing some Karhu XCD skis, boots, and bindings for my daughter. On the way back to Jay we stopped at the Belfry for a micro brew and dinner. All in all a great day. Here are a couple of short vids:
