New question here. Roadtrip Recommendations - 3 hours from Philly

Hey guys. Looking to take a 2 day mountain biking road trip next weekend. Would like to ride some trails that we've never done before and we're looking to travel up to approx. 3 hours from the Philly area. Want to be able to XC/trail ride Saturday and Sunday, preferably at different places, so they should be fairly close together.

A couple of possibilities that I've run across are Jacobsburg, Prompton and Burma Road. Any thoughts on these places? Any other suggestions?

fairhill one day micheaux the next....

they are both are extremely different as far as terrain goes but both are excellent riding locations.

micheaux has days worth of riding as well if you want to stay in the same spot.

There is always Jim Thorpe, but I assume that you've been here and are looking for something new?

come on up to State college and ride rothrock, one day on the tussey side and one day on the Coopers gap/greenwood side. the trails are pretty much dried out and in good shape.
check out the nmba site, www.nittanymba.org for trail maps etc. i also have a good route description for the tussey side incase you cant find any locals to act as guides, but that should'nt be a problem either. plenty of places to stay in town or camp at greenwood furnace state park. another potential is Lykens / rattling creek but thats really just one FULL day of riding.

Good job!

Francis Slocum State Park (Please stop at park office for a map to proper ridable trails)
Merli Sarnoski Park
Lackawanna State Park
Prompton Dam

Lot's to do here in Lackawanna and Wyoming Valleys

All these are within 50 mile radius of each other some being closer than others.

Lee, On a map I'd say within 15 mile radius. Wouldn't you?

I was including Francis Slocum in that, and I wanted to give him an area including the entire valley as well as hotel/motel rooms as well as other bike places to ride. Ex: Rails to Trails. In case he is bringing kids or GF or Wife

There is always lots to do here.
