    ride near Pittsburgh

My son plays football at West Liberty State College in WV. We fly into Pitt from Fl every weekend to go to the games. Is there anywhere good to ride and rent bikes around there?

    Yes

Loads of good riding around Pittsburgh. A little farther away, there is great riding. Trek of pittsburgh (www.trekofpgh.com) demos all sorts of Treks and Fisher bikes for about 40 bucks a day. They are located 10 minutes from the airport in Robinson Twp.

Between the shop and the northern panhandle of WV (i dont know whwere w. liberty is) there is Bavington gamelands. Bavington is OK, but not at all technical. Tons of rolling single track. I live there and it gets really boring. North of the airport is Brady's run park Its better than Bavington, but there is only one 12 mile loop. Between Wierton and Chester WV, there is Tomlinson's Run park. Its ok too, but overrun with hikers and picnickers on the weekends. Also, north of the city, hartwood acres is very nice.

If you truly have time to kill, drive either 1 hour south to Coopers Rock WV, or 1.5 hours east to the Laurel Highlands. There is limitless riding in both of these areas. Starting Sept 1 there will be Big bike rentals and Lift access gravity riding at www.7springs.com. They also rent XC bikes and have some fantastic singletrack.

This website can be useful too: www.porcmtbclub.com

Good group of people, rides for all abilities. Maps here: http://www.pittsburghmountainbiking.com/

I am around to answer questions

You might also want to try Wisp or Snowshoe Ski Resorts.

Here is a review with an incomplete map to get you started.
