They call me Tom or TurboTom, the turbo has nothing to do with my riding. I am a car guy by nature :-) I am 29 years old. The Mt Top trails are my normal stomping grounds, but I have been known to hit up trails from Jim Thorpe to Merli-Sarnoski and a few in between. I ride an 06 Speacialized FSRxc.

Here I am on the Summit View trail in Mt Top

    Greetings from W.Philly

    What up party people!

    Serge from W. Philly
I'm 34 yo and into all things bike oriented. First it was touring, then fixies, now mountain biking. I ride a rigid SS 1998 GF Aquila, because I like to do things the hard way
When I get the chance to ride, I shoot for the Wiss, but occasionally I end up lost at Belmont. Thanks to the good information I have found here at MTBR, I may start to branch out to some of the mtb spots farther afield. I typically ride alone, because my friends have more money than time. I, however, have the opposite problem. Pleased to meet yous.

I'm Jonathan, 38, from Yardley. I ride a K2 Crush. Just started riding a couple months ago. I ride at Core Creek a lot because it's only 5 minutes away.
But I also hit Mercer and Pennypack. Really looking forward to hitting more trails/parks in the future.
I am a member of Singletrack Attack Mountain Bike group (a meetup.com group) and usually ride with people from that group. But always interested in riding with new people (as long as I can keep up! LOL!).

Joe from Pittsburgh here. Greetings Scott & Laura and all the folks from NEPA. Been riding a Titus Moto-Lite, have recently made the switch to big wheels(and loving it). I have a Niner Air 9, and am now demo'ing a Niner R.I.P. full suspension 29er.
Here in the 'Burgh area, we have a plethora of riding places; Boyce Park, Frick Park, South Park, North Park, Laurel Mt, Apollo/Roaring Run, Bavington, Deer Lakes, Hartwood Acres, Moraine State Park, all within an hour's drive of the city. Look us up if you ever get to the area : http://www.porcmtbclub.org/index.html

I'm Jonathan, 25, from Bensalem. I ride a Santa Cruz Chameleon on the trails and a Trek 1200 on the road. I usually ride at Core Creek, Neshaminy, or Penny Pack. On rare occasion, I'll ride out at the Wiss or at Blue Marsh.

My name is Jamie, from Bloomsburg, 32 years old, but I try not to act it. I ride a Specialized Hardrock Pro Disc. When it isn't too hot, I like to bring my German Shepherd, Indy along-not to brag, but people have often complimented that he has great trail manners! My buds and I mostly ride at Geisinger these days, but there are few other local places we go, like roaring creek. When I visit family near Doylestown, I try to go ride high rocks. I went to snowshoe for 3 days and diablo for one day this year-definitely going back to diablo a few times next year! I am shopping for a heckler for next year. Favorite beverages are microbrews or homebrew (I make my own when I have time!).

    <IMG SRC="http://gallery.mtbr.com/data/mtbr/500/medium/IMG_16891.JPG">
You better just go ahead and drop that seatpost down to the reflector... the trail gets pretty rough down there.

    Sorry no pictures yet

Scott Priester, 37 years old, I live in the Point Breeze neighborhood of the City of Pittsburgh.

I ride a Cannondale Rush and a Bianchi MUSS. Frick Park is in my back yard, one of the greatest things to happen to my life. The riding is great, never have to load up car for it. The bike culture here in Pittsburgh is fantastic.

I love to travel with the bikes and stay at Bed and Breaksfasts along the way.

Mike from Langhorne, PA. I ride a Trek 8000LT since 2001. My usual rides include Pennypack & Wissahickon in Philadelphia; Core Creek & Neshaminy in Langhorne; Mercer in NJ; Blue Marsh near Reading. I have been to Fruita (Kokopelli); Front Range trails in CO; and Moab three times. And I recently acquired a used road bike. Still getting used to the whole idea of it!

What's up PA? My name's Nate. I'm born and raised in PA but currently living in the south of Spain. I check in here a lot when I'm away to see what's going on back home. When I'm in PA I'm in the Harrisburg/Hershey area and like to ride at Mt Gretna or Swatara St Park. I miss the PA singletrack. There is some good riding over here, but just like everything else, nothing is quite like home. My bikes: '96 Bianchi Martini Racing, '98 Merlin Tiaga Ti, 2000 Trek STP and '07 Orbea Oiz Team.

I'm part of Hubbard Bike Club and a local trail promoter! I love "building" trails . My home trails are Hubbard, Merli, Prompton, Lackawanna SP, and soon the Moosic Mountain Conservancy that Hubbard and NEPMTBA have agreed to lay out an awesome trail system on.

I ride DH at Plattekill and Mtn. Creek weekly during the summer, usually on Sundays. And we do trips to Snowshoe and Whiteface when we have the chance.

    My name is Casey
I ride a Transition Bottlerocket, or Karpiel Armageddon primarily
My favorite places to ride are: my trail (top secret), Ted's (D-town), Wissahickon (best singletrack), Valley Forge (at night), White Clay, Diablo, Platty
Not too much into the pedaling thing. It's ok but I'd rather be going downhill or hitting some jumps/drops/bridges.

me at Ted's last jump jam (hungover, sick, and hadn't showered in 2 days.)

Hi, I'm Mike from the Wilkes-Barre area. Favorite ride is 7 Tubs (where it all began for me) as well as ALL of Mountain Top (literally too much to list), also enjoyed Prompton, Merli, REALLY enjoyed Hubbard and Lackawanna State Park. Also, I have to say that I can't imagine there's anywhere else with so many GREAT people to ride with. Whether you're riding good, or riding lousy, the company of these people make any ride a great ride. Pics are of me at the Tubs:

    Hey Everyone!!

I'm Ahmed from Pittsburgh, Pa. I was a basketball player throughout middle school and high school, but after my senior year I decided not to continue on to Division III ball. I am currently at the University of Pittsburgh as a Freshman. I love building bikes from scratch and finding smokin' deals by looking all over the country through the internet. So fun to make something your own.

    My Machines:

    *2004 Titus Racer X Black
(mavic wheels, fox float 140 RLC, Juicy 7's, RP3 rear shock)

    *2007 Gary Fisher X-Caliber 29er
(mavic rims, xt hubs, hayes el camino, Reba Race SL)
    (((1 by 9 drivetrain)))

    *2006 Yellow Felt F70
(shimano 105 all, yellowed out with michelin speedium, and sella italia seat)

I love to ride when I can. Very buisy with alot of other hoobies though. I would say that I love to build more than to ride, but once its summer time or spring, that changes very quickly. I'M A HUGE FAN OF RIDING WITH OTHER PEOPLE. FOR ME IT'S HARD TO RIDE ALONE.

    Thanks for reading!!!

Long live the beautiful yet basic engineering of the bike!!!!

I have a few bikes, right now my Bullit is getting the love, but my Reign, the P3, and my two old homegrowns are sitting there staring at me too.

My wife (Keylimeride here) rides a Trance.

    Hi

    name's Dusty
hometown is Pottstown, about 1 hr east of Philly. Favorite place to ride is French Creek and nearby St Peter's and surrounding gamelands. Been MTB'ing for 20+ years, enjoying it more now than ever. I have two young kids (still on trikes) & one on the way, I am SO looking forward to their first Mt Bikes and many thereafter. Did a little racing throughout the State many years ago, just ride for fun and fitness now (and the love of it).

    great thread btw

    Roll Call reply 01/25/08

Good thread; I'll keep it going.

I'm Don and I live in Philly. My favorite local ride is the Wissahickon (pre-2001; the ongoing grooming of the park is ruining the terrain we all grew up riding on). I also ride at French Creek, Neshaminy, and points all across PA with my old college buddies who are all still into mountain biking.

My ride is a 2008 EWR Bikes Original Woods Bike.

Hello all, my name is Craig. I live near Washington, PA. I am 33 yrs old. I started riding 2 years ago on a DiamondBack Response. Last year, I purchased a 2007 Spec Stumpjumper FSR Pro. My most common rides are Bavington, Laurel Mtn, Tomlinson Run, and Quebec Run. I also venture to OH, WV, NC, and TX for rides a few times a year.

    Sure why not?

My name is Jason, and I live in the Reading/MT Penn area not far from Duryea Dr.

I used to ride a franken bike using a Walmart Mongoose steely frame. I just got a Cannondale Caffeine 3 frame and I am waiting on my headtube adapter before I can finish my build. It will have a deore xt shadow rd, a regular xt rd, a raceface evolve xc crankset, avid bb7 mechs, sun ditch witch rims, generic shimano 24 spd shifters/brake lever combos , and a rock shox j1 fork badly in need of replacement. It weighs more than my frame does..But these are parts I've nickeled and dimed over the course of a few years. I've got big plans for this ride. I love working on bikes almost as much as I do riding them.

Incidentally you can find me, for a while yet at least, at the Pottstown, Dick's Sporting Goods. I work as the full time bike tech there. I do my best, and have taught myself a lot, but there's one company that doesn't know how to train people! I won't get into it but its frustrating when I hear about moron techs who screw up leaving me to clean up the mess!

Anyway I used to live in Green Lane so I would ride the trails in Green Lane park whenever I could. I am looking forward to checking out French Creek Park, and Blue Marsh. Plus there's a ton of unmarked trails all over the mountain behind me. HELL YES

I plan to someday open my own shop. I have some serious competition here in Reading though with the very excellent JB Mountain Bikes not far from me.

    Hey, my name is Thad
    I live in Philly
I have been riding track bikes for a while and now have decided to take the plunge into mtb.
I am new to this but I am super excited. I will be ready to ride with anyone once we get some break in the weather. Also I will be around St. Petes and French Creek cause my girls and my parents live there. I grew up there. I love bikes and have a junkyard of roadbikes (7) in my small apt. You can find me now riding around greys ferry on my KHS hardtail looking for stuff to practice on/hurt myself on until i can hit the trails.

My name is Paul and I live in Mt. Penn, PA near Reading. I am 31 and just got into mt.biking in Feb. of 07. I wish I would have gotten into this 10 yrs. ago. At least.

I actually started riding a little in 06 on a bike i bought at a flea market for 65 dollars. I rode 3 blocks and I almost passed out from exhaustion.I was still smoking and in pretty bad shape. I was so excited to show my friend this (awesome) bike I bought. 2 blocks from my house the rear wheel was broke and the tire rubbed my frame because the hub was obliterated to the point where I couldn't ride it anymore. The guy put a new wheel on and I headed off to ride my first trail ride at Blue Marsh. That was in early july 06. By the time Sept. rolled around I was done riding that bike.

Feb. 07 I bought a 06 Kona Dawg Deluxe. First real bike. I love it of course.Quit smoking in March so I could ride better. No more mid-ride smoke breaks. Thankfully I have alot of great friends that have been riding for most of that time and even some who are still riding now in the cold. We've been riding Blue Marsh and French Creek . I love FC and all the rocks, Its my favorite place to ride. We also ride Mt. Penn (Duryea downhill)and Neversink Mountain. We Took 2 trips up to Jim Thorpe (awesome )and did 2 rides down at White Clay, DE.(also awesome, can't wait to get back there) We are planning a trip down to Virginia somewhere. I'd like to get to more riding spots. Some of the people I ride with make fun because I always stop to talk to other riders all the time, but I like to meet other riders. More riders =more fun and more riding destinations.

I actually bought an 05 Giant Faith 2 at the end of Dec. There are alot of downhill runs less than a mile from my house (Duryea) so I figured why not. I'm definitely not a pro but its all about the fun factor. I can always improve. I,m ready for the not so cold and wet weather. I'm ready to do some sick downhills.

Hi, I'm Billy, 24, originally from Annville, PA right near Mt. Gretna. Moved to York when I got married and now ride Rocky Ridge, Lake Redman/Williams and a ton over at Michaux/Pine Grove Furnace. I have made a couple trips to Caledonia/South Mountain as well. I am missing my bike big time as I am here in South Korea for a year teaching English. I ride a 2003 Rocky Mountain Trailhead but looking to upgrade to a 29er when I get home in July.

hey, i'm Joe, 20 y/o from Bushkill. just got back into mt biking now that my "fast car" phase has dwindled. i usually hit up mcdades trail and whatever else i find in the DWGNP. I have something called a Thruster with a full suspension that i got many years back, and i havn't grown much since then so it works pretty well. a bunch of friends have told me good things about glen park, so i may check that out soon. i need to head over to vitulli's for some new gear, though.

My name is Tyler, im a senior in high school and live in pottsville PA, and yes it is the home of Yuengling beer! My #1 hobby is ATV riding, ive been doing that for 12 years, but i love mtn biking too.

I ride alot of atv trials around my house for now but I just finally built a rack for my truck and will be taking some trips to blue marsh and french creek and anywhere else that might be relatively close (any suggestions ?)

I am on bit of a tight budget building up a quad and mtn bike (and paying for gas too! ) so i ride a trek 4500 with avid disc brakes, sun rhynolite rims, and a RaceFace evolve DH crank, yeah a cheap hardtail with expensive DH parts, ridiculous i know, but when things breaks you have to replace them with good parts so they donot break again

Hey. I am from Acme, PA (Fayette/Westmoreland County border). I am 36 and have had two back surgeries since 2005. After much research I decided I wanted to get a bike and start riding to get back into shape. So I am shopping now.

I am on a tight budget since I am now a full time Engineering student at Pitt because I can no longer do any type of physical labor due to my back. After just a few minutes on this site I decided I will avoid a dept. store bike and hold out until I find a used bike in my price range ($175-200 right now). I don't want anything fancy and have found several on c-list but they are always too small (I am 5'10" tall). With some persistence I hope to find something in the next few weeks.

Been riding the Ventana alot because I love the 29" wheels and the rear suspension is much nicer on my bones. If you run into a big guy on a grinch geen bike, don't hesitate to say "Hi".

Hi there, My name is Kory Luginbuhl and I live in Denver PA (Lancaster County) but originally from Notheastern Connecticut. I am almost 42 years old, married with a sophomore at Muhlenberg College and another a Junior in High School. I am not busy EVERY weekend at soccer tournaments anymore so I have been riding as much as I can.
I frequent French Creek or Mt. Gretna at least 3 times a week(one or the other). and will be in my first official race on August 16th(as long as I do not hurt myself or my bike before then). I ride an 01' K2 Razorback 4.0 and love it, as well as an 06' Trek 1500 Discovery(road bike). My future hopefully brings me a new Ellsworth Epiphany as soon as funds allow! Favorite Beer(s) are Yuengling, and Victory Hop Devil. I'll post a pic of my ride(s) as soon as I get it back from JB's with a nice new bottom bracket and Hydraulic Brake service done.

First mountain bike in 1990... nine since.
Usually riding at marsh, french, wissahickon or fair hill. Weeknight short rides at bonner park or westtown school.

I like to ride down in white clay creek, DE, wiss, bonner, wcu if I have to. I'm just getting back into mountain biking and really enjoying it. I haven't gotten a chance to get out to marsh or french creek yet, mostly because I usually end up pointing towards delaware somehow. I too like Victory lager.

    er... what's up.

I'm Brian, 27 years old, from Greensburg, PA. I'm an ex-cross-country rider (circa 1990s) turned DH/FR rider/builder/pseudo-racer/whatever. I'm a newly hired employee at Seven Springs Bike Park and enjoy riding there and at Wisp, although I'm planning on heading to Diablo and Snowshoe before the end of summer. I ride a 2005 Trek Session 77 with extensive modifications (due to stuff breaking), and prefer I.C. Light from 16 ounce "pounder" cans. I love the Pittsburgh Penguins, Chipotle burritos, sugar free Red Bull, the movie "Weekend at Bernies", my Volkswagen GTI, and the musical stylings of Motorhead and The Descendents. I have a miniature Dacschund named Klaus, a girlfriend named Michelle, and have for the most part been obsessed with riding my bike since I was seven.

Good idea not going to FC, new to clipless pedals. I have a friend who took his friend to Mt. Penn/ Antietam for the first time in clipless pedals. What a mistake that was! I even warned him not to do that. Dont give up on them if you find yourself falling and getting hurt a lot at first. I started to ride when I was 30. (2 1/2 years ago)I actually bought flat pedals and rode with them for awhile because I was sick of getting hurt with clipless. Thank god I gave clipless another try because I don't think I could ride the trails I do without being attached to my bike!

    Hey pal,
I ended up at BM Sat went from 21 to 29 and back (there were three of us)I probably passed you going the other way maybe? We started at around 8. Had a good time. Much different than I am used to but still pretty fun. And on your pedal comments? I am on platforms 100% of the time now. 2 big injuries keep me away from them, but that's just fine with me. I feel very comfortable being able to bail out at any time if I need to! If I had clips at FC the other week. my foot would still be on the trail attached to my pedal when I snapped my bottom bracket.

    PA Role Call

Hello, my name is Todd. I live in Exeter, PA, I am an Aquarian, I like moonlit walks....Oooops, I thought this was a dating site! LOL!

Seriously, I do live in Exeter, PA-between Wilkes Barre and Scranton. I ride a Windsor Cliff 29r and can be found regularly at Moon Lake Park in Hunlock Creek. If you are in Northeast PA check out the Moon, you'll love it within 30 minutes or your next pizza is free. Damn, sorry I watch too many TV commercials! LOL!

Hey all, Doug from Ambler. Ride a Stumpy HT mostly at the Wiss but also get to White Clay fairly often as well as Valley forge, High Rocks, Salisbury. Also get out to central and western PA where my favorites are Rothrock, Raystown (Allegrippis), Laurel Mt, Quebec Run.

Went and got a new Cannondale and sold the Razorback. Pics are from Trail 15 at Mt. Gretna

Bensalem, PA here with a vacation spot up in Jim Thorpe. Usually ride a sweet little trail network adjacent to the Neshaminy Creek right here in Bensalem, occasionally hit Core Creek for some variety. I rotate through an On-One Inbred, Motobecane SS Monster X and my vintage Steve Potts CCR.

Truly a wealth of useless information.

    PA Role Call

Hey KrazyKessler, good to have you onboard. Just wanted to let you know if you ever get up around the Hunlock Creek area Moon Lake has two trials sections. The first one is all rocks with kickers where needed. The second one is known as Deacon, with both natural and man-made obstacles.

Haven't been on it in two years. Would like to get back out, but no time
Drink: Lager or Jager. Preferrably both, in reverse order.

Anyone looking for a bassist? haha
Wow. I musta been having a bad day/week/month when I posted this. Actually, yeah..........
Anyway, got back on it finally and decided, believe it or not, that I want to do it again. Still out of shape but I figure the best way to fix that is to ride. And I'd like to try some new places at that. Anyone up for an early morning, mid-week ride?
Bike is a KHS XC~304. Drink of choice is water. Pretty much gave up the alchohol after one too many hairy rides home after gigs. My kids need me more than I need the drink. Have a place in Blakeslee (Monroe County) but haven't had a chance to ride up there yet. Enjoy fishing, especially with my seven year old boy. Even though he usually does better than me.

And I'm still looking for a jam.
