    New To Lehigh Valley

    Hello everyone,

I just recently moved from Nebraska to the Lehigh Valley and I am currently living in Macungie. I've got a singlespeed 29er, all rigid frame, and I am looking for some good trails to hit and maybe some people to ride with. I'm pretty out of shape though, haven't hit the trails enough lately. Any suggestions?

    Kevin

P.S. - the 29er has a gear ratio of 32:17 right now, though i do have a 20T for the back if you think that would be better suited for the trails around here.

Welcome to the LV... check out http://www.bikevmb.com/

And you'll probably be much better off 32/20 on a 29'er singlespeed around here.

    welcome...

    Kevin,

Welcome to the area. There is some pretty decent riding here - dumbaSS built some sweet trails in Bethlehem/Allentown area called Salisbury. If you wanna ride them or some other local trails just shoot me a message, I can show you around or set you up with some other locals to ride with.

Welcome to the area! Don't know what kind of riding in Nebraska but you won't be disappointed around here. Plenty of riding locally, less than 15 mins from Macungie, as well as more places less than an hour's drive in almost every direction. The Allentown/ Bethlehem area has a great variety of riding from mellow to very technical. Hope to catch you out on the trails.

Lots of cycling in the Lehigh Valley!

Check into some of the local shops for hints for spots as well as the local clubs/organizations if you are interested in meeting up with some other folks to ride.

There are a variety of trails, and even a few folks right in Macungie.

Bear Creek Mountain Resort in McCungie

I'm sure you've heard of this place, living in McCungie. They let you ride the trails as long as you check in at the front desk. The season finale for the Mid-Atlantic Super Series is held here. A bunch of technical singletrack.

I've never ridden the trails in the allentown area though I've heard they are great. I'll be up in the area late Thursday afternoon and have done some reasearch on my options. The review section is, I'm assuming, dated. I am looking for a technical ride that would take no more than two hours. I think Bear Creek and Salisbury have what I am looking for. What is the general consensus as the must ride trail system in Lehigh?

If you only have 2 hours, hit Sals. What time are you thinking? I might be out there Thursday night as well.
