    Good job!

    a few updates, 5/21/12

    Scott sent this in:

AJ and I ran the weed wacker and leaf blower on the entire length SOB, the new over the Dam trail and the entrance of Kirby to the big rock section. The rock on the lower section of SOB is all cleared out and has at least two on lines and two down lines, although the left down line needs a touch of work. The rock at the top of SOB is cleared out too and the around line is clean. The uphill entrance to Kirby is all cleaned up and easy to see now. AJ had a bit of a variation on the new uphill line on the entenence rocks that we have been thinking about. He didn't want to drop the top rock off the edge and he found another rock to fit the gap. It is pretty high and a spotter would be a good idea on that line.

A good night of trail work and I'm off to clean my stinky self.

Word is Dozer the wonder dog...

...has been selected to have a trail named after him.

The trail is almost done and will be a totally different way to the top of the mountain, instead of the hard back climb on Dirt Rag riders can leave High Noon climbing at a much lesser grade to connect with Dirt Rag at the Dragon's Back Rock creating 2 options: go right to Dragon's Back, West Virginia and Mono Rock, or go left and descend down Dirt Rag leading to the well house a ways away!

As you know I always find da Rocks, well the new section won't be barren and there is a great ledge section and tight switchback to test your skills! Should be open for a HCGA Friday Night Pasta Ride in 2 weeks after Dozer christens the new trail!

Before we head down to the pines I would like to put some trail in behind the well house out to the original birtbike single track. There is some mild grade terrain over there with some great features that can be added. That would add some more SS friendly trail with some great tech features.

I re-phrase: A non shifting, non part time, singlespeed with only one gear choice!

"strong leg mountain biking", single leg riding? can ya switch left or right, or gotta use only middle?... LOL

A little bird told me there is a new trail(Dozer) about to be opened...
...that will make more loops/direction changes possible!

Of course the actually christening will have to be performed by Dozer him self, and it might be a triple header!

Scott, bring the blower, the one I have of yours decided to not start. I'll see if I can get going if I have time!

...BMER Marty meeting is a great way to end the day of trail building...LOL

A few friends of mine who ride Moon might visit HCGA tomorrow night to ride da Rocks with us, and they have machinery to build the Bouncing Betty downhill section that I roughed in, and pump track

I need to discuss with you, Jimmy, Ed B:

    Mt bike weekend 2012
    MTB race - trail route

I will call in the AM
    Thanks

8/2/12 Dozer trail is done, I received 3 white a88 hornet stings, but you know it was so worth it, and doctors say it helps your reflexes...LOL

4 cans of hornet adjuster and they are out of stings now!

...A bit on the new trail, connects to High Noon providing another way to the top o the mountain at Dirt Rag trail. This trail is designed to be a bit easier/friendlier than the other killer routes not to say your gonna coast, but I designed a lot of grade dips to make it flow if you pump it, of course to drain well, a few switchbacks to get us up and a new trials section called "5" you proly know better than to ask "Why 5"

We ride it this Friday, and I will add pics of our newsest trail!

    Good job!

A new section is in the process of construction...
    ...the "Skinny Lounge"

Using the lower section of Itchy Tire we are designing and constructing a playground full of all levels of "Skinnys" and some Ramps also! The main feature designed by Scott is a Double "X" shaped Skinny with a crossover right in the middle. I'm designing and constructing a "pivoting" Skinny Teeter-Totter! There will be wide, narrow, short, and tall skinnys for all levels of riding ability to try!

First pics are the trimming and roughing in the area. The leading trails are in place. The quad will be used to drag some Skinnys into place, others will be dropped.

Look for more news and pics on this exciting build...

So my Wife's sister and her husband fly in from Cali for our 20th wedding anniversary last week and where do I take my brother-in-law for an afternoon of guy time? Building mt bike trail and some quading. Poor guy spends all that time flying and doing family stuff to get stuck clearing trail as a reward. He's good people and we locked down the idea of St. Thomas Family Vacation in 2014 so it wasn't all a loss for him I hope.

I stripped the three telephone polls of all the metal and they are ready to drag over to the new section and winch into place. A bit of winch and manpower should get them to their new home. I'll have to start hauling some wood down from the cutoff pile for the X-Over. It should make for a good play area.

    Bob Vila would be proud...
..but like Brian O'Keefe says "Its not cabinet making"... LOL

...a new line on the Woody has been born, to the sounds of chainsaws, hammers, nails and Wayne Newton... LOL

Welcome "Skinny Business" a nice dual purpose line that will undoubtedly find stuff added in the future to up the difficulty, an intersection with Kirby for more added options, and a Teeter-Totter on deck. As of now pretty tame so all can enjoy!

Jimmy and Brad hit the trails for a spin tonight, myself? I cleaned the Woody area and they joined later with Scott. Sam blew out trails too. The Woody is all ready for the MTB weekend next week.

Katsu stole the picture show as he supervised our work of course Kirby, Kasey, and Fat Dog were in for some snacks also.

Thanks guys for a great night at HCGA

    New question here.

    Something is brewing at HCGA...

...what could it be? A new Trail, new Skinnys, new Woody, a Race Course?

Well, Fat Dog did approved of it, and it will be a great Christmas present for the Christmas Ride/Party

    Good job!

So after 4 days of trail work...
..."T P Crapper" the newest trail is on Dirt at HCGA

Opening up a totally new area of the land, and consisting of Flowy, smoother lines a diversion from the rock festival at HCGA. It climbs in a gentle way using swoopy wider lines, with room to lay it over in turns. Intersecting with Itchy Tire at the Volkswagon Rock it will be a great warm up for regular rides or will be a great first segment of the race course we are developing in anticipation of next years race at HCGA.

If you reverse direction it flows all the way, composed mostly of organic with a clay base it will hardpan quickly, lots of leaf blowing has produced a great base already. Of course it has a small rock section(would you expect that to be missing at HCGA?) called "Rock Spine" with multiple lines!

We'll save riding it till the X-Mas party/ride as a present to all. It will be tuned and groomed to perfection between now and then using low powered Motos which will push up a few berms and define the lines better and quicker, and there are a few old log road crossings that have to be addressed with pick and shovel. Jimmy gave it the test with the scooter today.

Looks like Scott has a few more signs to make...LOL
    Pics coming...

Not sure where I stand tomorrow. I'm just finishing up my work day right now. I may get out early or be going just as late tomorrow. I'll let you know, if I get out early I'll run the leaf blower on some of more trail to get us clean.

Sometimes stuff just happens as after our ride I went to blow out Kirby and decided to find a few different lines, Justin, Chuck S, Bob C. joined me for an all out construction extravaganza from flying rocks to chainsawing downed trees in a whole new effort to preserve our sillyness.

Well I didn't gets pics, and oh I will as now Kirby went from a one line trail to a play area with everyone's designed being thrown in!

    More at eleven...
    ...better bring airbags

    Thanks to all...

    Good job!

After the "Moto" ride the review of Kirby was given by the "Moto" crew...
...all approved and offered up praise.

It has not received the test run by it's founder "Kirby" the Black Jet, but soon enough it will be run in.

Of course many other lines were discuss and now more construction will ensue.

    Ride da Kirby...
    ...now with Wood

Concussion Carl the undisputed King of Moto would like to give you a tour, as he is the king of Whiskey Throttle!

The new stuff on Kirby is fantastic. It should be a blast to ride up or down. I'll pickup some more nails, anything else we need? Brian was cutting the last time I was up so another run up for cutoffs would be a good idea, maybe a big beam or two to build with too.

Yea and a huge pile of pin logs for the fire pit. We have to ask if they would like us to take it off their hands.

    Good job!

The new 4 cross section on Kirby is complete...
...with 5 hours of work today.

Kirby has become a play area all in itself

The options are many with more lines now than ever before. It is now possible to torture yourself even more by doing loops. Of course the main line is still there just a bit of an up and over now. A lower boardwalk on wood will be the next project, making for another line.

Kirby is a serious "Triple Black Diamond" section now! The main line as well as the 4 cross has been ridden clean.

Most of the scrap wood is now used up as well as another 50 pounder of nails...LOL

Yet another great HCGA Christmas present at the X-mas party ride!

    Ride Kirby...
...now with more Rocks & Woody

    I forgot to mention...

Making for a great warm up/beginner loop...

...we now have enough work into trails that a really good lower section from SOB, Woody, Fat Dog, Dirt Road, Bouncing Betty, Logging Roads, P.C. Crapper, Itchy Tire makes lots to ride!

The log roads on the back side(near T P Crapper) need leaf blowing and a bit of trimming, but still are good to go as far as getting through.

Very interesting, lots built in a very short time!

... and if we just ...

A new line on Itchy Tire has been added...

...just a square rock over, but still has the runaround in case your so inclined.

On another note of interest. I would like to thank BMER for a great Christmas party tonight and celebration of our 50 years as a Moto club. The club had many displays of our past history and racing events from 1962-2012. It is also great to see more BMER members getting into mt biking.

BMER guys don't forget the MTB/Moto Christmas party at HCGA land is this Saturday, 12/15/12 we would like to see more Motos this year and Jimmy has promised to do both MTB and Moto rides on the same day making him the Ironman of the Hunlocks Rocks.

Sunday produced a lot of work finished...

...Scott, Jimmy, Ed, and myself completed the 40 footer Moto bridge. Many trips hauling wood from different areas and lots of nails now have it good for Moto and MTB. It connects many different areas.

Scott & Jimmy have a new log over for Motos up on top of the mountain.

    MTB work:
Itchy Tire now linked to Bouncing Betty for a different way down the mountain, and much more exciting than the dirt road, thanks Ed for helping with that.

The Skinny Lounge now has an escape leading to T P Crapper.

    3/2/13

On a cold March day, the "Sram XO Skinny" got the treatment today thanks to Scott's tools upgrade, an air nailer and compressor making for faster more efficient trail building, but plans also include a trailer for the quad to make for hauling the stuff around even easier.

Scott, Jimmy and I busted out 8 hours of work on the primer highlight of the Skinny Park, the main feature a huge crossover skinny. The main line is done, but as usual hanging out in the woods has spawned many more lines planned. The rest of the skinny park was discussed with a few walk throughs. The "rock wall top" will receive a line as well...

Well all the rocks are cleared and the lines are opened and cleared too. There is a ton of building and tuning to go but the new section will have plenty of lines. It should tab pretty sweet.

I will be there tomorrow night so if anyone wants to help out with building just stop over. It should be a good night of trail building.

Line 9 work 3/28/13 Many lines exist and this area is a skills level of a higher source from the lower Kirby where more straight friendly woody lines exist. Line 9 is pretty much totally rock and I haven't decided if I will eliminate the woody entrances you see now in the pre-stage designs, like CR500 says it is Ride the Rocks after all. Just showing the work, it will look much more acceptable with bikes in the pics. Fat Dog approved
