Mud, Rocks, and Mt Laurel...Oh My!!!!

I decided it would be a great day to head to my old stomping grounds for a ride through the Game Lands I used to enjoy hiking when I was in high school. Things have changed a bit in 20+ years. A housing development required the road through the Game Lands to be re-routed. Great time riding even in the "Baby Poop" mud...LOL!!!

Mud, Rocks, and Mt Laurel...Oh My!!!!

Wow, I just had a thought...yeah, that in and of itself is reason for a WOW!!! LOL!!! With all the baby poop from the houses, that is why the Laurel is growing so well...lots of fertilizer. Thanks Bear! That was not easy yesterday...I was really hurting! I made it back to the truck a little after 7, I was very relieved since I forgot my light in the truck. With the reroute of the road, there is now a big downhill(it sucked on the way back)and I hit almost 30MPH down that thing. In the grand scheme of things 30 is not fast, but on a mt bike it sure feels it!!!

Heck, I topped out under 30mph on the ride Sat, but it felt crazy fast. 30 is real fast on a HT now bull.

I think I can count the number of times I've gone over 30 mph on any mt. bike on one hand. And that includes my DH bike.

I'm actually a WEE bit concerned for myself for this year, seriously. The new build with the Minion DH tires rolls REALLY well, and last year at Blue Mtn I hit over 42 mph on one of the smoother straights. At least this year I'm going to be wearing more body armor.

I'm not real clear that I want to spend major time above the mid 20's though, for me on Serious Trail that's Seriously Scary ( but fun, oh yeah, fun ).

I hit around 45mph on my road bike coming home from mOOn lake around 10 years ago, and on that road I was scared crapless!,

Thinking back, riding those speeds, on that tight twisty road, with cars passing me, I was a lunatic.
